Do you store unopened, sealed boxes of cigars inside or outside a humidor?

need to store them in a humi or some other container to maintain the Rh. Most here use a cooler, or other rubermaid type container (except those that have very large humi's.

Busting my balls is forcing me to copy and paste to read a post!!!

Not to smoking. Been smoking on and off about 20 years. But yes in terms of long term mass storage. Until I stumbled onto CBid a few months ago, my small 50ct always had extra space. On father's day my children gave me a Treasure Dome. Problem is I filled it with 5 and 10 packs I had won that were in tupperware in my closet. For some unknown reason, I decided that I'm gonna buy a "few" boxes to let them age.

It's quite elementary (my dear Watson)...........when you been going to your cigar shop of choice all these 20 years, did you see them storing boxes of cigars out on the shelf next to the Pall Malls? No......they had them in some kind of a humidified cabinet or walk-in. Of course I understand that there is the possibility that it was a very small B&M and they didn't keep full boxes of anything. My point is......think about how a big shop or even the mothership has to keep theirs. It's no different for you and me.

What Duane (vrod) said about the cooler (just an igloo ice chest or something similar) is a really inexpensive way to have some decent long term storage. Beads don't cost that much and all you need to do is check them and maybe spritz them with some distilled water every 3 weeks or so.

I agree.

But what if you can't store them long term? ie. You run out and need some to smoke.

Do you then have to change the beads in the cooler?

Thanks in advance.

My wife bought me my first box of cigars 6 years ago. They were local rolled. I put them on the counter and smoked a couple every weekend. They sat in that dry ass box for 6 months turning to dust. I never knew the difference. Being a noob is awsome.

Then she bought me a humidor the next Christmas. I immediately filled it with RP's and El Mejors Emeralds. Again what the f did I know. Took me 5 years of this bull****e before I found this place.

Noob King!

I thought you would have to change the beads.

If you had two boxes of 20 each with some beads in the cooler then took out 5 from each box that would leave 30 cigars.

The beads were calibrated for 40 cigars.

So if you just left the same beads in the cooler with only 30 cigars,I'm thinking it would be over humidified.

Over humidity can cause mold.

I don't want to deal with mold.
