Goose, I got it for $81, which I consider to be a great deal. However, I'm already wishing I bought something bigger! No more 5 packs for me until I smoke some of the cigars I already have.

Thanks for the info POV! -- I have been eyeing the El Reys that are currently up ending on the 4th. -- Looks like they will be close to that same price. -- Don't fret about needing another DOR down the road! -- There are major advantages to having several medium to large Humies as opposed to one big one. -- My old man has 5 total and keeps his various TASTES separated. -- If you buy into the "MARRYING" concept at all, multiple DORS allow you to age NAKED gars without worry about the possible marrying of milds and robusts.

Just exactly how do you know if one is aged properly, cigars that is? Do certain types of tobacco have diferent aging times? If so, how do you find these things out, experience? What if you light it up and feel it needs more time? What would you then do? Smoke it or toss it? Well, that was stupid, of course you'd smoke it. Maybe I should ask would you ever consider putting it back for a later date or would it be ruined so to speak by previously having been lit? I just don't know these things!

Lol!

Settle down, settle down. :o)

Definitely different kinds of tobacco age differently and at different rates

Most of the premium brands we seem to favor here on this forum tend to already be aged for years before they even get made into cigars, but the lower priced brands can usually benefit from a little time in the BOX

There is really no rule to HOW LONG to age a smoke since varying temperature and slight differences in humidity can make a big difference. But the general rule for SERIOUS changes is 12 months.

If you want to get serious about aging, you are well advised to buy a humidor solely for that purpose so that you avoid the constant opening and closing of a daily supply humidor.

Thats the main reason I have several of them.

Some also claim that it is not good to MIX robust gars with mild ones in a humidor cause the tastes and personalies can meld and obscure the individual traits of each type.

Does that help anwer your question? :o)

OH! And as far as trying to age a smoke you just lit up? Too late!

But if you have any more of that type from the same batch, those should be bedded down for a while for a chance to mellow out and improve. Keep in mind though, true dog rockets generally turn into milder dog rockets! :oD

I too am a compulsive bidder, and tend to buy more than I can store. So whatever size humidor your thinking of getting..double or triple that...
