popup windows appear constantly. i have firefox add block and popup begone for windows ie. the popup all show mozella firefox across the top and they are for many different items.

what to do? thanks in advance.

Windows messenger also will allow pop ups to be sent to your computer via messenger. The only way to stop those pop ups is to disable messenger.

On the Microsoft web site is a beta version of antispyware that is very good download and run that.

Further make sure all open ports are closed using a firewall so that spamers can't openly ping the web and find you.

the popups are on regular web sites. i don't mind the popups on the porn sites. i get to see things i hadn't dreamed of.

my windows messanger is always turned off. i was told not to delete it.

i have windows firewall plus a router. i don't get any popups using ie because of the popupbegone, but it doesn't seem to help with firefox.

will the windows beta version work when i use firefox?

I picked up Defender Pro at Wal-Mart about a year ago and am very pleased with it. It is cheap (about 30 bucks), and includes 5 different programs (Virus, pop-up blocker, firewall, utilities, and anti-spam.

I've used it for about a year now, and it works like a charm.

Rick, chances are the windows pop-up blocker is designed solely for IE. Do you have pop-ups disabled in firefox? Go to Tools->Options. In the "Web Features" section, the first option is a checkbox labelled "Block Pup-up Windows." It will block 100% of them. You can also add sites that you allow to open pop-ups, which is handy for UPS and such.
