I live in FL, and in the summer it is damn hot, humidity 1000% all day everyday. Because of the heat, I was having a hard time keeping the temp in my humidors below 70, so I decided to buy a wineador. I got all the bells and whistles from Forrest, 4 drawers, 2 shelves and now my temp stays a nice cool 65. Heres the thing tho, I am just about out of room in the wineador, and I dont feel like shelling out another $400 to set up another one. So, I have decided to make a coolidor, my question is...

How well does a coolidor keep the heat out, and how do I regulate the temp and keep it below 70 in the summer?

Thanks for any and all help,

Russ

you build a barn for your wife's horses and convince her she needs a super insulated, air conditioned room to keep her tack and feed from molding. stake out 2' x 4' area for your coolers, crank the air to 70 and you will need to provide moisture in the coolers to prevent drying. makes a real nice place to put a lounge chair and nap in the summer too.

That would work if I had horses or the land for them. I read someplace, (cant remember where) about putting ice in the cooler, but should it be ice made with distilled water? Would't regular ice melt and then cause potential mold issues?

That would be a yes, but it is only a short term fix to your problem...the ice will only hold the colidor temp down for a week MAX, probably much shorter depending upon how much ice you put in the cooler.

i live in new jersey, not nearly as hot as long as florida and when i turned the ac off in sept had temp problems with my coolidor. i don't remember what the temp outside was but it wasnt that hot in sept. also i have a cheap cooler from wally world so probly not the best insulated one.

I just ordered a 28 bottle wine frig and also going with the four drawers and two shelves. I am curious how many cigars the drawers will hold.

HMM, so maybe another Wineador it is. Well, this time I will go bigger than 28 count, but also not going to go for all the drawers and stuff. will just use trays and boxes. My wife is so gonna kill me.

I just moved here from Jersey back in June, the heat here in the summer is a all new kinda heat. But, I put the Christmas lights up outside today in 75 degree weather wearing shorts and flip flops.

I have one drawer filled to the top. It holds exactly 90. 40 of them are MFLB Petite Robustos.

yeah but that seems extreamly temporary and dangerous to the cigars introducing melting ice to the cooler

Thats what I thought as well, thats why I was asking. I love the thought of a cooler, way cheaper which leaves more money to fill it, but I dont want to go the cheap way if in the end its going to be nothing but a headache.

Only after the second date and bottle of cheap wine.

But not sure how that helps regulate the temp in my cooler.

http://for-sale.yakaz.com/pepsi-fridge-sale#lo=4&docid=0005forr31hv8ero  I used to have a small pepsi fridge in my office before I got into cigars. Used to fill it with soda's and the temp was always steady as a rock.
