Been working on this off and on and finally finished everything up a few weeks ago. Had a couple of pine planks for stairs and a few Undercrown boxes lying around that I wanted to do something with, so decided to make a medium-sized humidor (comfortably holds around 200-250). The sliding shelves are also Undercrown boxes. 5 humidifiers with beads and two hydrometers (RH is around 68%).
Added a mortise lock, some old hinges that keep the lid pushed down (can't remember what you call them), some stain, and a few coats of varnish and there you have it! I'm not really that great with woodworking, but it seems to be working pretty well.
Will probably opt for a coolidor once I run out of room in this one and start keeping boxes (think I'm going to add some planks and make the shelves deeper to hold more) but wanted something cool to keep around that would be opened more often.
I've been on the boards for most of the year so I should prolly go ahead and introduce myself. I'm a big UC fan but also enjoy Gran Habanos, San Lotano Maduro (non-oval), La Relobas, MUWATs, LPs, Ruination, Diesels, La Aromas, My Fathers and some others I can't think off the top of my head. Smoked off and on for around 18 years or so but didn't really get into the storing/aging part until about 2 years ago. Started off with a couple of smaller humis and worked my way up from there.
Haven't posted very often but I usually find the answers to any questions from older posts, and appreciate the helpful info (as well as the humor ๐ ). I'm in the Houston area, so if there are any hangouts or herfs going on, I'd love to stop by!
Jeff
