What is the deal with the price? Is it WORTH it?

I ask about Davidoffs cuz I got a PS med fill in the other day with my cbid shipment and smoked it right out of the package. For less than $2 a stick, it surprised me a lot (in a good way) and I started thinking, "why are regular Davidoffs so expensive?"

I remember about 4 or 5 years ago, I picked up a sampler set of Davidoff's on an international flight. Back then, I had NOOOO cigar knowledge at all (I still don't have much but at least now I'm trying) I remember buying them because I originally liked their cologne (Cool Water). Don't even remember how much I paid for them and no humidor or anything, just stored them in a kitchen cupboard. Smoked them over the next few weeks and didn't know what the hell I was smoking. In retrospect, I wish I would have at least known the little amount that I know now. Maybe they would've been better.

So back to the original question, WTH?

Not worth it to me.... but I'm cheap!!!! There are so many cigars to spend money on. I kinda like to get a couple or more for the same money, ya know? Maybe someday, but unlikely.

My personally thoughts are the price is just to smoke a cigar with the Davidoff name on it. Oh, it's a Davidoff so we will sell it for more. Not worth it to me.

They're good. There are a few Davidoff whores out there..more power to em. I'd rather have something else but I can't knock their quality. I burn one occasionally.. My sickness is focused elsewhere, though.

The first and last i had was a Millennium Robusto and it was a great cigar. 20$ each from the local is steep. Hard to justify the cost but will try again.

To some people yes, to some people, no.

It's all about individual tastes.

Only you can figure out if they are worth it to you since it's your money.

I would never pay the price, but the Davidoff Special T that F16devils gifted to me was one of the finest smokes I can remember.

Just an excellent cigar in every way, in fact all of their lines are top-notch. Having said that, for the same price as a Davidoff Double R at $28, I would rather spend that money on 4 other Davidoff brand cigars - Camacho, Avo, Room 101 and La Fontana.

Good to know. Knew that Avo was a davidoff line but wasn't tracking the other 3.

Btw, Prince Albert sends his butler in to a B&M near me about once a month to buy a box of double R's. The global warming business must be pretty good.

Davidoff doesn't own Room 101, Matt Booth does. It is made at the Camacho factory and they do distribute it though.

Camacho, Room 101 and La Fontana are all made at Camacho. While Davidoff does own Camacho, the factory is still run by Christian Eiroa since Davidoff has been fairly hands off since the accusation.

AVO, on the other hand, is a Tabadom (Davidoff's factory) produced cigar, blended by Henke Kelener (Davidoff's master blender & head dude at their factory)

What no love for Baccarat?

From the Camacho marketing department:

America’s #1 Selling Premium Cigar. Baccarat “The Game” is the highest quality cigar available in it’s field and price range, making it a staple with mild body smokers nationwide. This cigar boasts a Honduran-grown Connecticut wrapper with a sweetened tip that is perfect for the beginning smoker. The quality and price of Baccarat cigars cannot be beat and are the reason this brand has stood the tests of time.

Just hooked good ol lefty up with some Camachos from back in the day when it was still Caribe Imports for those of you who remember.

Reminds me I need to pick up one of those Special T's from 01...

And the scary part is that I'm not even at the high end the scale for this kind of stuff. Some of the brothers I know are so far into it my brain wants to implode around them when we start talking about this stuff.

Camacho and all it's lines including Room 101 is owned by Davidoff now (http://camachocigars.com/press/oettinger-davidoff-group-acquires-camacho-cigars/), they just haven't messed around much with a good thing. Christian is doing his own thing with CLE, Windwood and Asylum - all of which are EXCELLENT imho (http://www.cigaraficionado.com/webfeatures/show/id/16537).

Hey, no hate here for Baccarat, I love em. Especially if you let them rest a few months, the sweetness mellows out and turns into creamy wonderfulness, lol. Baccarat and La Fontana are amazing smokes for the money.
