Quite a thread here. It belongs in a college text-book on how NOT to do business.
Sure, it should have gone to C/S first. But, the way it was handled once public- some soldier negotiating to pay for something he didn't order- is b.s. Let him keep it. Tell him just to pass the stuff out to others. Who gives a crap. He's honest.
But no, CBID keeps posting on the matter itself. Then another BOTL form Afghanistan chimes in and says he had a problem too. Doesn't look good at all, CBID.
And then, some state-side BOTLs step up and offer to pay to make it right and to go away fast. But, CBID ignores them. Stupid move. CBID would have had its money and let the others feel good about doing something nice and good. Now I bet they are a bit offended or the like. See where this has gone yet?
Loss of customer confidence. Loss of good will. New stories of botched customer service.
So, still wanna negotiate? How about this: Cbid apologizes publicly to the soldier on this very thread; Cbid apologizes to those whose donations were refused; Cbid admits if screwed up royal; and CBID now gifts the soldier a few free boxes of cigars to pass out to everyone he meets in Afghanistan.
And in return, The honest soldier simply says "thank you."
