Ideally you wouldn't want to pull pieces of capa from another cigar unless it was the same line, as candela is simply a shade/state of the tobacco, and not a type of tobacco. Any leaf can be made candela, or maduro, or oscuro, or colorado, etc... So you might not actually get the same type of leaf.
That's the churchill, right? Take 2" or 3" off the bottom and get your capa patches from there. You'll still be left with a smokeable length. I wouldn't go the pipe route because it's just not going to taste the same, it's going to be really rough and harsh.
That "vein just under the wrapper that runs perfectly straight from the cap to the foot" is probably a ridge caused by the mold when the cigar was pressed before the capa (wrapper) leaf was applied. You could "paint" up that stripe and you actually have a chance of it holding together.
