...why I continue t buy Hemi maduros and tonight was a good reminder.

Smoked a Hemi Seignature maduro from 2001 tonight. What a fantastic smoke.

I gotta say I'm torn cause the box I have from 2011 pales in comaprison. Not that its a bad cigar but the extra 10 years have imparted something truly special into this cigar.

This cigar was everything one would hope for. Smooth. Flavorful. Full of memories.

There is a reason why Fuente has stood as a brand to be reckoned with and this was a great example.

The cigar was superb.

Construction was flawless holding an ash till well past the halfway mark.

The initial flavor was of slight espresso, a dark bakers chocolate and a subtle cedar undertone. Fantastic draw.

In the second third the espresso faded into the background and the cedar undertone was the perfect complement to the chocolate.

In the final third all of the flavors melded together and the cedar intoned a slight spice which was very pleasant. The strength never wandered above medium. I finally put it down with less than a quarter inch.

The retrohale was nice and smooth throughout. The finish still lingers now with slightly more cedar than chocolate.

This all serves as a strong reminder of Fuente quality in a moderately priced cigar.

Still love the Cameroon especially for aging but this Signature Maduro was in a word, sublime.

I don't smoke these 01s often and give them away even less but will definitely miss them when they are gone.

I feel the way about the Hemi SG Signature that you do about the maddie. You nailed it....with age these cigars are sublime.

Never had a well aged maddie but I will throw a few back and see what happens. Now my boxes of SG's are aging quite nicely.I feel guilty every time I grab one, which is very rarely, because I know they're not quite done just yet.

BTW great review.

After reading this it just verifies my recent box purchases of BSMs, WOAMs and SigMads and my "plan" to stash away a portion of each for a l-o-n-g time. However, 2 years was my version of "long" so this review may / will alter my thinking. Mahalos.

After reading this I went and smoked a Hemi signature I picked up before Christmas. Very nice indeed.

This caused me to go diving in the Fuente humi. I just smoked a '04 very yellow cello Anejo #46. Fantastic!

Next up will be a '03 Power Ranger. =p~

Fuente and padron are always a reliable, consistent smoke.

Hemi's are grumpie's fav. I would say Anejo Sharks are mine. No aging needed for my Sharkies to be divine. Having said that, I do have some stashed for aging. That would work if I would quit smoking them.

I still have my Sand Shark from the Cereal Killer. I am saving it not for a special occasion, but for a day when I know I won't be called away in the middle of it.

Lets trade some aged hemi maddies for some FFP's? LP40's?

I can't wait til I can hold onto a cigar that long in anticipation of enjoying it, I think I need a bigger humidor cabinet perhaps!

I am a big Fuente fan, but have had a couple of mishaps recently. Both cigars were about a year old, a WOAM and a Don Carlos robbie. They were plugged so tight I tossed them before finishing, after many stabs with the poker. Total shocker!!!

I don't age a lot of cigars, but it's always a huge disappointment when I let a good one sit for a long time and it ends up not smoking right...

I must have a palate like a billy goat cause with a very few exceptions I find the Fuente line boring and lackluster at best. I will say that I have never had a Hemi Maddie, not a maddie fan, and NO I'm not moochin. After so many disappointments its hard to pull the trigger................

I'm not a maddie fan either, however the Cameroon wrapped Hemi is delicious and the SG version is off the charts. You have tried these right?

My go to and absolute favorite in the AF line is the Magnum "R" 44......again please tell me you've tried these. The 52 is also fantastic just not in the same league as the 44.
