Ha, just kidding....I'm a semi noob but even I know better lol

In a serious note, my local B&M has average ok prices, the guy running the place has a great personality and makes it easy to come in, pick a quality stogie, get a free coffee and hang, but......
he doesn't smoke, at all, ever!

So, thoughts, opinions etc, how can you trust this guys recommendations/advise? Should you take his info with a grain of salt or blow him off? (and I just realized that I just opened the flood gates for the gay jokes on my first forum topic post, great)

If he hasn't steered you wrong, then what's the issue?

Did he used to smoke cigars?

Something about blowing a store owner.

Seriously noob, if the owner never smoked cigars, then how can he possibly make recommendations? With that said, if he used to smoke, then he may know what he's talking about. I can no longer drink coffee due to a caffeine allergy, but I used to roast my own, and know more about coffee then most folks who drink it.

He "should" know the characteristics of cigars as a retailer. If he suggests something and you try it, tell him your opinion. He can use that to suggest similar smokes or to steer you away from others. Or...you could do some research aroud here for information.

I would take anybody's recommendation with a grain of salt.

There are too many variables, palate differences, preferences, etc for anyone to call them all accurately.

As mentioned before, possibly he used to smoke.

I used to smoke more till my GP referred me to a throat cancer specialist (turned out negative). My son was my main smoking buddy until his dentist said he wanted to cut out a section of tongue and send out for analysis.

there's not really a serious issue, he did turn me onto Torano Exodus and a few others that I do enjoy, and learning from varying sources and smoking a wide variety of things is just part of the journey (for me anyway), but he did try to push me onto CUVEE blacks because he has a "customer that swears by them" (granted his customer has probably been smoking for 10 years or longer and I've only been smoking cigars for 5 months)

was just hoping to start discussion and seek wisdom from the elders :)

and for those who must know, I did have to blow the guy right there in front of other customers, but I got a 5ver of RP's and a box of matches out of it lol

and french toast bitches!! hahaha

thanks triodes, that makes alot of sense.
and thank God you turned out negative, hopefully same results for your son, may I ask how many cigars you smoked and how often? I have considered whatever risk factors prior to starting this "hobby" and I'm smoking at most 2 to 3 cigars a week if I have the time

If you're asking about cancer, from what I understand, every body is different in how it may react. Just because you smoke for 60 years doesn't mean you will get cancer, but it makes it more likely.

You could get cancer the very first puff you take on a cigar, or the 10,000,000,000th. It is all reliant on your body and it's reaction to what you are putting in it, or doing to it.

But you can't live your life in fear. Pray for the people who have gotten cancer, rejoice for the people have beaten it, and mourn the people who were lost to it.

Its an overbid/local shpo and medical thread all in one!

So here goes: Instead of bumming matches from my local shpo, I light my (whatever it is) cancer risk smokes with the 50 boxes of matches I just won here on CBID!

So do I finally get my platinum membership?

And btw French Toast is geh.
