Jon Macgregor walks into his local pub, sits down, orders a pint and sulks. The bartender asks what the problem is.

"Well, look out that window there. You see that fence?," Macgregor asks.

"Sure," replies the bartender.

"I built that fence, but NOBODY calls me Macgregor the Fence Builder. And those trees right next to them..."

"You planted those?" asked the bartender.

"Yup. And guess what? Nobody calls me Macgregor the Arborist. But, you f*ck ONE goat....."

Here is a math trick so unbelievable that it will stump you. Personally, I would like to know who came up with this and why that person is not running the country, as it seems they have a lot of time on their hands:

1. Grab a calculator. (You won't be able to do this one in your head)

2. Key in the first three digits of your phone number (NOT the area code)

3. Multiply by 80

4. Add 1

5. Multiply by 250

6. Add the last 4 digits of your phone number

7. Add the last 4 digits of your phone number again

8. Subtract 250

9. Divide number by 2

Do you recognize the answer? Oh math, ain't it peachy?!

Note: this will not work with scientific based calculators. The "order of operations" throws the final result off unless you hit the "equals" sign after each step.

that's really interesting (the math trick). if you break down the steps of the procedure, you come up with the formula:

10,000x + y = phone number

where x = first 3 digits

and y = last four digits.

it makes sense when you look at this way. i'm just curious how the first guy expanded it to the steps in the trick. you have to be pretty bored, i think.
