I'm going to fire up a Vault Robusto tonight after work. Looking forward to checking it out.

Anybody have some opinions on them?

"Introducing, the next big thing from the Torano family. Carlos Torano Vault: a blend secured by the Torano family for a full decade....known around the factory as Liga A-008. The blend is a favorite among the family and factory, but was never released. Reason being, the Torano crew had plans to make it a bit more powerful. To do this, long-leaf tobaccos were harvested from the volcanic soils of Ometepe, an island off the coast of Nicaragua. These bold leaves, when combined with dark and oily Nicaraguan Colorado wrapper, created a full-bodied, full-flavored cigar teeming with charisma and character. Rich tobacco nuances mingle with satisfying spices throughout the burn, while a raw earthiness rounds out the bouquet. Bold yet balanced, in true Torano form....Vault is a must-try handmade worthy of your attention."

It's worth trying, who knows, it may be in your wheelhouse. I had one from a sampler, but it was the 6x60, which is a little bigger than I prefer, but OK smoke.

Oh.. Almost forgot. I also grabbed up an Ave Maria Crusader for tonight. Tomorrow, Thursday, is one of my days off this week.

I don't have much luck with Torano stuff.

My wife purchased one for me for my birthday last month, with the assistance of the guys at my favorite B&M, Stogies On Grand (St. Paul). She purchased three: Vault, Camacho Blackout, and Gurkha Cellar Reserve. Of those three, the Vault was my favorite. Unfortunately, I don't know whether it was black Box or Red (if there's a difference or what that means).

I can't recall specific flavor notes, but I know it was rich, complex, not overpowering in nice strength, constructed very well, and had lots of smoke.

The Blackout was good too, but not as enjoyable as the Vault.

I hope this helps.

I expect the Vault and/or the Blackout to make CA's top 25. We'll find out on Friday.

Just bought a Blackout from my B&M yesterday. Found a box of older triple mads that were forgotten about on the top shelf and grabbed a couple of those, too.

All my Toranos came from CBID, where strangely they are sometimes called Carlos Torano and other times Torano. The Vault is one of the 4 or 5 I have tried and I would not buy them again.

The Torano 1950 Exodus 50 Years version is very good.

That's one of the ones I tried and I did not find it to be any better than others. I may still have one or two and will undoubtedly smoke them next year with some age on them.

So... I fired up the Vault last night. At first I only got the sense that it was a power smoke, but it didn't seem to have a lot of flavor. However, after a while it did get a lot tastier, but nothing special... to me. I didn't mind smoking it.

The Ave Maria Crusader, on the other hand, was tasty right off the bat and strong. Unfortunately, at about the halfway mark I had to toss it. It just became too hot and harsh.

These have only been in the humidor for about a week. I'll give then some time to rest up and then see what happens.
