Tonight; after long anticipation, I finally had my first Opus X. I have quite a few, but I aged them for about one year up to this point to see the best of it. It wasn't a bad cigar, just not worth sickening hype and price. I know we all have different palates, but I'm just going to have to go with the majority on this one... VERDICT: Over-Rated. :/

+1 YES! [ram27bat] I don't buy Opus X anymore - there are plenty of other unique smokes on the market when I'm looking for something different that don't cost so much.

I had a churchill Opus that was maintained perfectly at 65% RH for 4 years and the wrapper STILL had burn issues. Several other vitolas I've had were decent, though not worth MSRP, let alone the crazy prices that gilded suckers pay for them online. Part of the issue with these insane prices is Prometheus - a pseudo-bourgeois luxury item company that understands that the more you charge for something, the more it is worth to a consumer if he/she buys it. Similar to how frats are so loved by their members because of the hazing. The other issue is that this was supposedly the first Dominican puro, of which there are now several.

Now, the Fuente Anejo is a great smoke and can be found at B&Ms and several online outlets for reasonable prices. I just got a fat handful of #49s for $12 a piece. For Opus prices, you're better off buying something else.

I like an Opus now and again, but Anejo and WOAM are where it's at. Never had an Opus maddie to compare though........someday.

Anybody remember when Coors was "hard" to get & reached mythical level for a while before the emperor was deemed naked? OK...
I'm with Ram & a few of the others. Nice smoke but not worth the money IMO.

WOAM's taste good, if you baby them. Get it ever so slightly over heated and the flavor is gone.
