Alex Sanchez gets popped for steriods and there is no outcry that hes a cheater, a punk, and a skallywag?? No one screaming to take his stats out of the baseball encyclopedia?

Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm interesting.....

That makes one...how many more to follow...not named Bonds.

He got popped for a banned substance, not necessarily steroids. The policy is a misnomer as it covers a multitude of legal over the counter substances as well as those that are illegal such as steroids. Didn’t we expect some no name to be the first hung out to dry by MLB? Why would Barry Bonds or Sammy Sosa be the first? They needed to make an example of someone and Alex Sanchez is perfect cannon fodder.

Let's face it, this is nothing more than publically throwing an expendable body under the bus so that their big, shiny new policy can be show to have "worked" ... he's the perfect "find" for the big new drug policy ... a well-below-the-radar guy who NObody ever heard of before he got busted ... he's not putting any a**es in the seats, so there's no down-side to suspend him for a few games ...

Barry, on the other hand sells tickets ... and his race against the record book is big stuff for baseball this year ... they're gonna bend over backward to be sure he's not snared in the net, even though all but those in serious denial know he's been on the juice for several years ...

But how come he isnt being called a cheater and a pimple on the butt of the game? He had a POSITIVE test. (yes, more than likely for a banned substance since that is the only infraction that carries with it a 10 day suspension) Everything else is just speculation???

Isnt the point to clean up the game? Well hes a dirty player. So shouldnt he be thrown under the same bus that Barry and Sammy et al have been thrown under these past few months?

Are some of us claiming that MLB is weilding a two edged sword while they themselves are holding one?

I'm not sure I understand the question, but am assuming it has something to do with MLB being two-faced and duplicitous ... in which case the answer is yes, they most certainly ARE ...

Team officials, league officials, players union officials ... ALL have known for a long time what was going on and ALL have chosen to turn a blind eye to the situation because doing so was in their personal financial best interest ...

The current testing policy is nothing more than eye-wash designed to make the gullible think they're actually concerned about the problem and are doing something about it ...

Bud, most of the owners, many (but not all) of the players, and Don Fehr don't give a rats ass about the integrity of the game ... their sole concern is about the enrichment of self ...

Beat, this guy isn't so much in the mainstream news like Barry is, so it doesn't affect baseball as much.

If an Admiral in the Navy gets caught misusing government funds... it's a HUGE deal. If a junior enlisted guy does it, he gets a slap on the wrist and a fine, maybe busted to the next inferior paygrade. Who do you think makes the evening news?

Barry is one of the big wigs in baseball, ergo he gets the attention.

Are some of us (the fans) claiming that MLB is

weilding a two edged sword (eyewash policy that says a lot but doesn't do a lot) while they (the fans)

themselves are holding one?

***********

The point is...how can anyone claim that MLB is two faced when the fans shouting the loudest are also.

The MLB's policy is eyewash and has no legs to stand on. (you haven't caught the big guys yet and probably arent all that hot to do so)

They ( the hypocritical fans) dont want baseball to be dirty, but we want Barry, not Alex. Ho hum...call us when you bust some one we (see above) want to see busted. (Kick out the cheaters but if it aint Barry we don't care-y) Then we will say its about time! Even tho the policy sucks we got him!

Until then its all BullSnot**???...

Shouldnt this be a good sign to all of you that have been vocal about the "CHEATERS" in baseball ruining the sport? Or is this really a witch hunt?

MACS... Bad analogy...both are wrong. I would hope that the deck swabber would get the same punishment as The Admiral. Maybe Congress should look into that claim as well

I don't think there's any doubt that the "Cheaters" in baseball have severely tarnished the game ... biggest problem in eliminating the problem seems to be that those who most logically SHOULD be doing something about it are not doing anything because it's in their own personal best interest to allow the big numbers to be put up ...

For reasons unclear to me, you seem to somehow insist this is all about Barry ... I think it's all about ALL those who've been cheating, INCLUDING Barry ...

The new rule is a joke ... weak as it is, if Alex Sanchez was ensnared in the nets, he SHOULD be suspended ... you can bet your boots that there'll be no "names" busted ... hell, they're not even gonna be tested ... baseball's gonna try to scare 'em straight with news of Alex getting busted ...

But the penalties are laughable ... suspended for 10 games ?? ... no kidding ??? ... how 'bout first violation a guy gets suspended for a YEAR ... or maybe TWO ... ? ... second violation ... he's gone for good.

If there were some freakin' TEETH like THAT in the rule, we'd see real compliance ...

Beat, that was my point - the deck swabber and the admiral WOULD get the same punishment, but to the media the Admiral would be a HUGE deal and it would be all over the news.

This guy that got caught (I don't even know who he is) is the deck swabber. Barry is the admiral. Their punishment would be the same IAW the new policy... but Barry would be dragged through the ringer by the media.

This other guy is a virtual unknown, so nobody cares. Hypocritical? You betcha it is. I'm not saying I agree with it, I am just saying that's how it is.

Sanchez still says he never used steroids and still has been suspended for ten days. barry bonds admits to using at least the steroid cream and gets "0". Don't you just love a freakin make believe hero.
