Thanks to everyone that took the time to show up and enjoy the evening with us!!! Always great to get together, even if it's only every year or two.
A big thank you to John (Spear) for taking care of my buddy and I with the food and beer also!! We all traded some nice single sticks 👍 and smoked some great ones. Thanks to you guys also that took care of my buddy with a few cigars. He was pretty new to smoking and that was his first herf. He was overwhelmed with the hospitality shown to him.
So......the tournament............
Friday we shot in the pouring rain, and it never let up. I did ok all things considered. I shot an 89 in the rain. High score for that day in the rain was 94.
Saturday and Sunday were just beautiful. Sunshine, puffy white clouds and perfect shooting temperature (about 72). I woke up ready to tear some shiit up and did precisely that. 97/100 on Saturday put me in good position in the shoot. The second half was Sunday (another 100 birds on a new course). Sunday I struggled a bit. The targets were harder but managed to put up an 88/100 for a 2 day total of 185/200. This wasn't good enough to place in the "open class" with all the pros but I did run with them a bit and my 185 beat many of them. It was also good enough to take the Veteran Champion slot, something that was an added bonus that I had not necessarily set out to do. So I took home an extra $425, a trophy, and a whole bunch of All-American points for the year. All in all, it was a great trip!
I will be in Kansas for the US Open in 3 weeks. Wish me luck!!!!!
