Well, I blinked, and today came home to find a box with a bottle of impossible to find up here Balcones Special Release Texas Rum (this is special alright, folks) AND his signature assortment of top tier smokes that are already napping...all because I once said a thing or two and he, well he's Mike and can't help himself!

Man, Mike, I don't know what to say 'cept thanks a million, and I'm taking notes my friend!

The Rum is impossible to find anywhere. You're a rum guy, I'm not and had a bottle I'd never open so's it was a perfect fit.

Balcones' Chip Tate is like a genius (a tip of the cap to Tailgater). Maybe his stuff isn't for everyone, but he reinvents booze.

I had a couple of fat fingers neat (like I was gonna wait?) and it was amazingly nuanced and smooth despite the threat of the 117 heat.

I've had dozens of rums over the years, but this one is a new, unique category. Not for lightweights, which I am definitely (note correct spelling) not.

Also, I am in love with parentheses.

I've met Chip Tate several times. Before he opened up Balcones he was the head of the Business Dept at Baylor University, he's got quite a story.

I'm hooked on his Single Malt. It's high proof too and in a class of it's own.🍺

Almost impossible. The distillery has put in new and bigger stills but cant make enough to meet demand. I have a buddy that runs a B&M and he told me the wait list for a bottle is several pages long, I have been lucky and seem to be in the right place at the right time. I have 1 opened bottle and 1 in reserve.


The coolest thing is that the distillery is here in Waco and Tyyer and I have been on a tour through it, twice.

Sounds like a needed road trip!
