MACS

I've done this on one of the previous threads, but i'll do it again for the new folks who don't want to bother with a search (I can relate).

MACS = it isn't MAX, like one would guess. You say the name by pronouncing each letter. It is my Naval Rating. The MA means 'Master-at-Arms' or the Navy's term for Military Police. The C is for 'Chief', or the rank of E-7. The S stands for 'senior' and was added on when I was promoted to E-8. So when anyone in the Navy sees that, they will immediately know that I am a Master-at-Arms Senior Chief. The (SW) on the end is a qualification. I took the time to learn a little bit about what each and every person on a Naval Warship does... 'Enlisted Surface Warfare Specialist' is the official designation.

This concludes our Naval History tutorial.

Cuda,

During my formative years as a farmboy in NE Wisconsin, we only had three tv channels, but had a pool table in our basement along with an 8-track player. I would shoot pool and listen to Ronco disco titles like "Hot Nights, City Lights", "Get Up & Boogie" and "Soundwaves".

I have my high school 8track tape collection on display in my computer area now. Brings back fond memories.

When I bought my first car, I installed an eight track player. Before I had it installed, my mother suggested I get a cassette player instead. I remember vividly saying to here (with disgust in my voice).....

"Mom, you don't know anything. Eight track tapes will be around FOREVER!"

Yes, I knew it all when I was 16.

A twist on Riders of the Purple Sage (an old Zane Grey novel, I thingk) + always trying to right a wrong, so out came PurpleSageRighters. Cbid wouldn't let me have all the letters so I dropped the "s."
