At 80+, you're taking a serious roll of the dice when anesthesia is involved...

I know no details of the case, nor do I care much. But let it be a public reminder of the risks involved with even a minor procedure.

Speaking seriously, I know of no doctor who would perform "exploratory surgery" on an 81 year-old patient complaining about a raspy voice. Nor should any surgery be done on anyone that age without exploring (no pun) other avenues such as X-rays, MRI's, blood tests, and other diagnostic procedures. Nor should anesthesia be given to anyone that age unless he/she is going to be anesthesized by a board-certified anesthesiologist in a hospital. It sounds to me as if "the exploratory surgery" story was a cover-up for some other kind of surgery and the clinic just blew it. We will see. 🤥

QMPASH - my knee-jerk reaction when I first heard the news was the same, but Joan was never apologetic or secretive about her elective surgeries, so I can't imagine what reason anyone would have to lie about it.

Now that Joan has passed on, her daughter Mellisa can see her wild oats, instead of eating them. Oy !!
