"Go ahead and remove that cellophane.

Cellophane is a moisture barrier. It keeps humidity out as well as sealing it in, but not perfectly. Its primary purpose is to protect the fragile wrapper of the cigar when you buy it. The cellophane should be removed to let the cigars maintain their proper humidity and to allow them to age properly.

This "cello on, cello off" conundrum is our most popular question by far, and we don't expect that to change.

So is there ever a time to leave cigars in cellophane? Sure. If you like to take cigars with you for a night of dinner and drinks, and you don't own a cigar case, keep at least a few in cellophane and choose those when you head out. The cellophane will give the cigars an extra layer of protection in your jacket pocket. Note that the cigars will dry out, even in cellophane, after a day or so outside a humidor."

What if your storing 75 singles in a drawer/humidor do they not need protection from being moved around while searching for the evenings smoke? I store them how they come and have noticed no difference in rh in the drawer with no cello and the drawers with cello.

Edit: However... I had already been thinking about removing the cello from the cigars in My Verona's drawers. Or, as some of you yankees may say... draws.

Cello on for me not only for the possible damage control… but I always wondered if there would be an inadvertent fusion of flavors with a bunch of naked sticks packed in together. No doubt the OCD in me…

I'm thinking about doing a cello on vs. cello off experiment with one of my desktop humidors. I nitice that stuff I buy here is slow to acclimate to my humi which is usually between 65-67 rh. Couldn't hurt to give it a try.

It is good you removing the cello. That is the ONLY way your sticks can properly marry. Just be sure to keep different blends separate. I use a strip of wax paper to surround the 5-Packs I win. Have had to many blends change flavor, and never for the better, from soaking oils from other cigars.[-x

I keep my naked PAM's and Kuba Kuba's in the same humi separated by a strip of wax paper and see no problem.

The wax paper is a simple solution…feel stupid to not have thought of that. Now to do some rearranging…

Just put them all in a blender add a little vodka and OJ. Hit the purée button. Store in a Tupperware container at 35 F. All problems solved.

If this is true, I would like to see CA store their cigars without a humidor then. Just need cello right?

Cigars shouldn't be allowed to marry other cigars, that's blasfamous.

I have thought about this no cello in same drawer aspect and am curious myself. I have a drawer set aside for cigars with no cello and try to keep maduros, naturals, seperated but I do keep some CC in the same drawer. Could this effect the CCs over a long period of time, If so how long? Unfortunately space doesn't allow me to separate everything to its own drawer but could be worked out in other ways if necessary.

Sidenote CC are the other half of the drawer not in contact with any NC.

I usually leave them as supplied by manufacturer.

however, I do remove cedar because of potential mold issues plus I really don't like the cedar effect on tobacco.

Also, the foil on the viaje honey and hand grenades seems to be detrimental to consistent humidity of the cigars. Pulled the foil off.

I haven't been around here much lately, and am surprised to see a pretty calm thread on this🇨🇮

But, I think cello is kind of like sex. Whatever turns you on as long as no cigars are physically or emotionally abused.
