*sigh*

I'm sure you guys remember me saying I was not expecting a banner season from the Niners. Kaepernick still can't read a defense, and the dude can't beat anyone but the Packers.

But you lost to the Rams? At HOME? With a rookie, backup quarterback? I'm thinking we're headed for an 8-8 season this year, and likely 10 years of futility again. Harbaugh is gone after the season. Who they gonna get to turn this ship around?

And for those of you who are familiar with ships... turning one around is not an easy thing. It takes a lot of time and a lot of space.

The thrill of victory... (20 years ago) the agony of defeat... (ever since).

It's my red (and gold) wagon... I'd rather crash and burn IN it than jump out and get road rash.

Fark. 🤦 😣 [frypan] 😢

That was a tough game. Was watching the end. Not sure if it was a fumble or not. Tough one.

It's bern a rough sports week for me all the way around. Every team I love (except the Chiefs) lost. Two were do or die games.

Not saying he's been bad. Just saying I expect he'll be let go after the season.

Kaepernick is one hell of an athlete. He's not a very good quarterback. We have so many weapons it baffles my mind that he can't get them in the end zone. And sometimes the play calling makes me want to punch Harbaugh in the face. Repeatedly.

When Kaep took over for Smith, I was sure he was the better option. I was wrong. He's not.

I just think he's still need some experience and maturity...and the right QB coach. He has the potential to be a great QB

Jeff George and Janarcus Russel had crazy skill sets. I thought harbaugh was a great qb coach. I agree with macs. I don't think he sees the game. Maybe he will grow, maybe he won't.

In the glass-is-half full side of the story, you were right about him not being able to read a defense.

You can be the greatest athlete (physical talents....speed, strength, quickness, arm strength, etc.)........but if you can't process information quickly at the quarterback position.......you'll never be great in the professional game..........period.

Unfortunately, processing information quickly is not something you can learn imo.

You can either do it, or you can't.

I actually think it is the other way around. You either have the physical skills or you don't. He has those.

You can learn the mental aspect of the position... but if you can't throw a 15 yard out, across the hashmarks, you just can't. One can spend hours in the film room studying and get better. It's why the great QB's say the game "slowed down" for them after about the 3rd year. Either he's not been studying enough, or he just doesn't get it and won't.

Okay, back on track:

Does the firing of the Michigan AD portend the firing of Brady Hoke thus setting up the hiring of Harbaugh? 🤔

It sounds like he works his ass off. And harbaugh is supposed to be a qb guru. Maybe it will just take time. Or maybe he really doesn't have the mental capacity despite his physical abilities. Maybe he's kordell Stewart.

Sorry, but I think you're wrong about this, depending on what you define as the "mental" aspects of the position.

If you're talking about memorizing a playbook and terminology, well yes.......but even that........some players struggle MUCH more than others.

What I'm talking about is rapid processing of visual information that is in front of you, and then, making the BEST instant decision based on the knowledge/data you are supposed have at your disposal (learned, memorized, etc.)

Any quarterback who makes it to the NFL has certain physical skills of course.

You can have the quickest mind out, there, but if your 5'6" and 145lbs, and can only throw a wobbly 20 yard ball you are NOT playing quarterback in the NFL.......ever.

So yes, there are inherent physical minimums that are required of the position. But proper, rapid decision making is what separates the elite from all the rest................and I believe it is a "skill" that can't be learned.
