As I am reading through the standard "slamming, whinning, I know more than you so pffft" forum this morning it really saddens me to see so many of us seemly ready to pounce on others as soon as they post an opinion. (not that they don't deserve it, but what gives us the pride to think we are the ones?) I don't agree with a lot of the people here. There are even some that I think are just pompous fools full of themselves eager to show how much smarter they are than the others. I know, I know, rights...everyone has rights, get to post what I want cause I got freedom.....I know I got the right to just keep away and don't read the junk, but man it's like a train wreck, you just can't turn away even though you know your about to witness death and destruction!

So I close my eyes and read through my spread fingers. So sad to see some so angry with life though.

I don't know...just felt like I wanted to say something, and certainly didn't want to jump into one of the many threads here for fear of being labeled with one side or the other......heaven forbid!!

A few people on here do jump at the chance to start an arguement about BLAH BLAH BLAH! This is suppose to be a place to get advice, trade cigars and have a good time meeting new people who share the same interest for the leaf. But I think if we all were to sit down and just talk about cigars those same people would find an argument in that. Never ending.

I agree with you Dave, I'm about ready to take a break from the boards other than to post my doctor appointment updates because things are getting sadder and sadder these days 😞 and it's a downright shame! I love a good debate, but there aren't any around here anymore, so I'll be back after my May 3rd appointment to give everyone an update, until then smoke one for me and Sterling 🙂 hugss

I agree with you Dave. Posting opinions is fine, arguing them is fine, disagreeing is fine - but when it dissolves into a verbal peeing contest, it gets stale. It's beneath these people, really. At least I'd like to think so.

1. Focus on the situation, issue, or behavior, not the person.

2. Maintain the self-confidence and self-esteem of others.

3. Maintain constructive relationships.

4. Take initiative to make things better.

5. Lead by example.

I keep this posted on my wall at work, because although I beleive in these principles I sometimes forget and slip into past behaviours. I think they are admirable goals though.

This place has gotten weird lately. WAY too much testosterone and too many ego battles going on. I don't know how many times I've typed up a nice tirade, like in a word document, just to get out the frustration with some people and let it go, without airing my laundry in public by posting it. But, it's not like I'm in line for pope or anything either. lol

I too have decided to take a break for a while. And so has JHC. It seems like a lot of other people have also decided too take a breather.

So many of the posts have gotten out of control. Some are nothing more than nasty personal attacks. It just isn't fun any more. And even some of the fun stuff has gotten out of hand. David was so upset about one that he told me not to forward the links to him any more. That was a defnite sign it was time for a break.

There have been times on this board that things have been taken way too seriously, and have gotten a little out of control.

I think what you'll continue to find though, is a group of fun loving individuals sharing a commoin thread. Their love for the leaf. That's what brought us here in the first place.

We pretty much have our opinions about everything, but when it comes to cigars, we all listen to the other guy because we're all looking for that one smoke that knocks our socks off without breaking the bank.

We may wisecrack once in a while, we may seem to use plausible indiscretion sometimes when referring to certain members, but all in all we attempt to conduct this board in a courteous manner. Those who slam others with profanity, or release aggression for no reason, or who are just downright disrespectful are almost instantly admonished by the faithful and we don't see their login names on much anymore. They know who they are.

I enjoy this discussion forum and have had alot of fun here lobbing bombs and have the return bombs lobbed my way. I expect it. One thing I'll never be is disrespectful. I would hope others get the message as well and spread fun, not hate and discontent. Have fun, enjoy the upcoming weekend and we'll see you here on the Bid forum soon.

Oh I understand, being as I just read and don't allow myself to get sucked in. I have met and continue to meet some awesome people from this place, and don't have any intention of stopping!

Overall....it's fun and a great place to hang.....heck I hang at most boards, it's not like this one is different. Just one I like to call home most times.

amen brother, i couldn't have said it better. I try and refrain from posting on the Misc. boards, unless it's sports or to comment on something funny. No politics, no religion, no ethics, etc. I have my opinions just like everyone else, and if asked i have no problem stating them, but would it be worth it to have people i don't know and have never met jump all over me, just cause' they disagree with my OPINIONS (key word). I don't think so.

if you want to talk about cigars and some of the other finer things in life, I'm your guy, everything else- not for me. JMHO.
