They missed one...and one of my pet peeves- Never lick the entire outside of the cigar before lighting it. It does not need a bath. If it is properly stored and cared for it does not need it.

My FIL - (love him to death but his habits can drive you crazy) insists upon giving any cigar he is about to smoke a tongue bath. Not only is it nasty - but it is only appropriate for dried out dog rockets you have left in your glovebox for a year. For that reason alone, he only gets quasi-rockets from me when we go golfing together. No need to waste a fine smoke if he is going to drown it.

Gave my uncle a cigar one time, he tried to convince me to dip it in whiskey, I was like, f that...

He's all, let me see your whiskey, I was like f no.

Then he grabs my other uncle's whiskey and dips his cigar in it... and other uncle was like wtf...

There's one guy I smoke with rarely and he always dunks the cigar in liquor. I figure that the head of the cigar is moist enough.

I started this after I noticed how much better the cigar would taste if I clipped some off the head again. The only difference being that the tobacco up further in the cigar wasn't soaked by spit. Been smoking better ever since I started keeping the head dry. To each his own though.

What the hell is the point of this????As cobra said when I first got into cigars I'd get them lil wet .At that point draw and taste go downhill so I am a bit more gentle and problem solved.I can't for the life of me understand doing this on purpose??????

It's usually the old-timers who dunk cigars or give them a BJ before lighting up. Seems to be a practice from old days when machine made cigars, Roi Tan, El Producto, Dutch Masters etc. were sold out on a shelf, not in a humidor, and tended to dry out.
