New? Anyone tried it yet? Anybody try it who was familiar with the 'old' VL?
IIRC, the 'old' VL, back around 05-07 was marketed as 'corojo', not maduro, so I'm immediately cautious, if not suspicious.
But, I also recall that it was a surprisingly awesome cigar. I'm guessing this is the (highly unusual?..lol) case of a new, perhaps inferior, cigar being sold with the miraculously resurrected name/band of a long gone great cigar. Any one here have the new one yet?

I believe blueboy was the VL expert round these parts. I have one he mailed me a few years back somewhere.

I think Belue sent me one too. Was a fine cigar.

For the life of me, I can't figure out why you would be suspicious of the new ones.

I had two boxes of the OR VL(very limited)back in 2005. To me, this was one of the best cigars on the market. Belue and i traded many of these fine cigars... (i have been around here longer than my profile states). 🌫

I have emailed the Rico's numerous times and asked them to bring this blend back(yes, I am crazy). I am going to do some research and find out the deal on these.

I know that the OR was a Maduro not a Corojo wrapper.

The wrapper on OR was a Nicaraguan maduro, from the Jalapa Valley. Underneath that it had a Dominican binder, and fillers from Nicaragua and Costa Rica.

The new blend are being sold with a Habano Oscuro wrapper with long-fillers from Nicaragua and Honduras....maybe they are good. Who knows?

For the price it might be worth trying.
