I haven't felt compelled to post a review in quite a long time. Seems I'm too busy these days to even check this site out, much less post much, and you all seem to have it all pretty covered anyway. Until I came across the little Foyle Epee at a new local B&M I hadn't been particularly inspired to bother. I can't find any mention of this cigar or even any of the others in that marque. Here's mine:

This line is the product of a rep for Alec Bradley named Dave Topper and an Alliance Cigar distributor named Tom Sullivan. It's a limited run put together by the folks at Raices Cubanas in Danli, Honduras.

I was very curious when I saw these in the new shop I had stopped into for the first time and decided it was worth a gamble being they were under $5. Around here you learn usually not to expect much from anything under around $8 but I bit anyway. It didn't hurt that it is one of my favorite vitolas. Overall, I was surprised at the guys low (for this area) prices.

This little PC has an oily medium brown wrapper that sports a few little veins but is velvety smooth. I'm looking at one in front of me as I type this. We'll see if I make it through without lighting it! It feels perfectly rolled to the squeeze and once cut proves that.... so far. When lit my palate comes wide awake as I'm tasting creamy leathery and very smooth flavor right out of the gate. As I smoke it the flavors get more complex and the little dude gives up big full draws of tasty smoke. Now, I don't usually go too deeply into flavor notes but these are, to me, very distinct notes. Nutmeg, clove, even a hint of cinnamon ! Then a sweetness creeps in, kind of caramel-like, that seems wrapped in a creaminess and ....I am in love. My palate is my own and I don't claim to be any kind of expert. All I can report is that this little cigar blew me away. Not with strength either as it's a mildish medium bodied cigar, but it so. damn. complex. Also, delicious. That too. Very much, that too. Smoked it until it burnt my fingers. It hurt so good. Not a hot or harsh note to be found.

I was so impressed I went back and bought two more (doesn't look like they're moving too fast yet) and smoked my second one last night. Identical experience. Another point I found notable was that it doesn't seem to matter what I'm drinking with it. Some cigars just scream for a nice ale or stout, some a strong coffee, at least for me. This cigar is great regardless, it seems. I tried coffee, beer and even black tea (which doesn't usually work for me, only with pipes generally). Actually, I think my favorite accompaniment WAS black tea!

Anyway, to wind up my over-long love poem to Foyle, I found it a very smooth smoking, delicious, short little smoke that just happens to be far more complex than it has any right to be. If this sounds good to you, check 'em out.

Thanks, dude! It's all true though about this guys prices - he's got to be playing a dangerous game because across the board his prices are waaay low. I've got a feeling though the whole store-wide pricing structure is likely a loss-leader that he'll gradually correct as his business increases. We'll see.

well, I shouldn't be surprised at some folks reaction, I guess as I don't know a whole bunch of newer members these days. And, Frank - you're right. Mostly. My new business (now 3.5 years old) is keeping me very occupied and things ARE looking up. It's a slow processes, especially in my field, but I see upward momentum. They ain't shut me down yet! 🌫
