Ever consider driving for them? Have you done it?

I see where it would cost me $20-25 to get a four mile ten minute ride.

I'd much rather be driving. Im sure they have uber, Uber fees and cràp. $50 an hour to drive around? Can't be all bad.

Actually it's pretty cool. Not only are you given a rating that you must uphold to continue driving, but as a driver you rate your customers. When someone attempts to use your services, you can see how other drivers have rated them and accept or deny their request.

well, I do know people who have had very good experiences using Uber, and I guess through various social networks there are ways to earn credits for free rides...

but I have had two people who work/worked for me do Uber driving and the money is late night club scene in Boston, not so much in the suburban market. One guy made as much on weekends as he did at our company in a week...

but both said have barf bags.

I've been using the uber and lyft a lot Herr. Makes sense for the drivers here since they're close already... But I imagine in the suburbs, they aren't going to make as much since they have to drive to get to the fare...

I've never driven or ridden for/with them. But, I am a fan of the disruption. I'm surprised the taxi industry has lasted this long -- such a contorted monstrosity of regulation and private industry. When NYC medallions sold for over $1M apiece, you know that there is something fd up with this 'free market'. As long as Uber doesn't get shut down for punitive reasons just to prop up taxis, I'm going to enjoy the show....but from behind the wheel of my own car.

My wife uses them for ladies night sometimes, getting a cab in our area (suburbs) is an hour wait. You put in your request - they send a price, you accept or decline. She has loved it so far - all good drivers and nice cars. She uses it when traveling sometimes too - in some areas it's cheaper than a cab.

used uber many times. never had any problems. like the fact that its one fee from point a to point b regardless if there is one passenger or four

It won't be a limo, it will be a Prius.

If you have to share a limo, you can't afford a limo. Get your own limo.
