Been here since Sunday night.

Weathers been nice, had a cigar every night around fire pit with some good whiskeys and bourbons

Have a free day tomorrow, wonder if I should go shopping at some of those "specialty" stores I've seen......

isn't bourbon a whiskey?

"Bourbon needs to be produced in America and made from 51 percent corn, whisky does not," says Maker's Mark Master Distiller Greg Davis. Bourbon also needs to be stored in new, charred oak barrels whereas whiskey barrels do need to be oak but not new or charred. "Lastly, to be called bourbon, the liquid needs to be distilled to no more than 160 proof and entered into the barrel at 125." For other whiskies the liquid must be distilled to no more than 190 proof. David notes that this isn't just common practice — "it's actual bourbon law."

itswaldo - try to get a local to take you on a tour of the "specialty shops" and use their resident discount.

I was under the impression Bourbon had to be from Kentucky USA and nowhere else, otherwise it's just whiskey....I thought it had to do with the water itself and how it's filtered through / by limestone. But hell I've been wrong before

Believe it encompasses the entire US, as we have bourbon distillery up here (10th Mountain Division). Also believe the minimum time in an oak barrel is 2 or 4yrs to be considered bourbon, otherwise it is just whiskey. Kentuckians believe their limestone water produces some of the best Bourbons, but Kentucky is not the only state with limestone.

You, sir are correct. I wish it only applied to the Commonwealth of Kentucky (my home state) and not the rest of the US. 🌫
