So damn tired.

Out at midnight, back at 0500 and still about 3 hours to go.

Looking at my paycheck with this job is so depressing. Took it for the promise of all the overtime you can handle and higher base rate.

Compared to last years check end of june I'm down a solid 20% killing myself working part time job on top of it to cover the shortage.

Vacation next week and then I'm pretty sure it's quitting time. already wrote up my resignation letter.

I'm working an 80 hour pay period, instead of the 84. I have weekends and holidays off and no night shift right now, but I make $8500 a year less. I work less hours, but I am there more days.

I'm praying for a promotion. That'd be a 5% raise and a shift back to working 12 hour days and getting paid for working holidays.

I'm not too mad about my situation, though. I have great supervisors right now who recognize my efforts. I'm blessed, really. So praying for a promotion feels greedy, to be honest. [frypan]

I was so burned out on my old job (that I still work part time) that I felt I was miserable all the time and it crossed over to home life n stuff.

I've told the wife a few times that I was thinking about leaving. Initially she was kinda ambivalent, but now she's for it. No mention of the money, though I'm sure she's well aware as she pays the bills. Kinda hard to overlook a 5 digit deficit. She said at old job I'm home a lot more, and get stuff done, and we have days off to do things and stuff...

Old job apparently agreed to match my hourly rate, and has given me a raise already. Extended an open door, whatever shift, however many hours, whenever you're ready.

Grass was definitely greener, but that was only because there was more bull**** heaped upon it, and I bought the sales pitch.

So I always had a window a/c unit that I'd stick in the bedroom during the summer.

This year the wife is adamant I don't put it in. Says it makes too much noise or something.

So, it's not doing much good chilling on the shelf.

I'm gonna make myself an air conditioned smoking room in my garage.

Well... not so much make a room, as stick the window unit in the window. That's the extent of the plans. Maybe stick a sheet of plywood over the opening between the two single car bays like I do in the winter to keep the heat to one side.

I'm sure it depends on where they live. The RN's that work with me make close to $50 an hour and more, depending on their longevity. The LVN's make over $20 an hour... to start.

Stopped at two healthy doubles.

Thanks for the reminder.

Yeah. That was awkward. My bad.

I probably had a few unresolved issues from being in Iraq. I don't like the stigma of PTSD. I don't believe I had it, and if I did, I'm over it.

But my time was my time. It's over.

One of my best friends came back sure he was fine.
One night we got drunk as foolish lords.

I found myself pushed down under cover, as he scanned for threats and laid down fire on the enemy. In the horse field.
All I know is, that was real, and thanks to all who went through hell to give me the life I enjoy.

I'm done, man. I'm sorry your boy hadda see what he saw. I'm really, really sorry you hadda get 'protected' from what he perceived was a threat. If you ducked and covered... god bless you. Maybe that's all he needed.

Checking in from some beach house somewhere on the island of antiparos....
Did cave diving yesterday... Good times. Gonna jump in the waer a bit today.

Life is tough. Real tough. Didn't bring a single cigar and no one seems to have shops around here.

My wife works with a guy who's daughter just graduated with a nursing degree. Pretty sure that my wife said that she's starting out at $40 per at Northwestern.

Just googled this, It appears that $25 an hour is more like it for starters.
Maybe she has some kind of extra training.
