Needing recommendations on QUALITY, pocket lighter. i've purchased TWO of the JetLine brand lighters and the electronic ignitors died on BOTH of them in short-order (two to three months).

Any suggestions?

Ronson Jetlite, mine lasted several years. Use quality butane and most lighters will last a good while.

Even my nice lighters died on cheap butane.

Switched to Vector and haven't had an issue.

It ain't cheap but it always works. Mine is about 10 years old and has been dropped many times. Still works like new.

All lighters are a crapshoot and will have problems somewhere down the line. I've had pretty good luck with Jetline and my only Xikar never worked. I use a lot of cheap refillable decorative Chinese lighters and they have worked pretty well. Use good butane and say an occasional prayer.

[-x Take it from me,you WILL be using that lifetime warranty! I've got 5 that all need to be repaired ( 3 of the top end Xikars). Great warranty but most of time lighters are being shipped for repair(at your cost)and then waiting on them to be shipped back. The best lighter that I've won here and still going a couple years later is the Colibri Talon.

I've had good luck with the jetlites. Only one that ever quit on me in short order was the one I bought on the 4th and ended up using to light kids sparklers with. It's dead now. I think I can clean it and get it going again.

For $4 each I can carry a spare with me.

Around the house and at work I use stick matches.

For the past year or so i have used a JetLine Tripe torch lighter. When I refill it it won't work unless I fiddle with the flame adjuster. That may be your problem as well.

Edit: make sure you use butane that has been filtered at least 5 time. It makes a huge difference.

Thanks to All! ....the jets still work on the JetLine and can be ignited with a second lighter. It's the electronic igniters that have died on Two JetLines now. What could that Coincidence be symptomatic of? What could I be doing wrong that would kill two igniters?

Try re-filling it and adjusting the flame height. I thought the same thing because I didn't see a spark when I tried to use it. After I fiddled with the flame setting it worked fine.

OK, I'll try... But, it's not even making a 'clicking' sound.

Did you take em apart and pull that spring out from under the push button? Makes it a lot easier to press, maybe can see if the ignitor switch is displaced or something.

Also if you take it apart, there's a little brass ring around the adjustment screw that if removed, gives infinite adjustment for the gas.

I've had a few bad jetlites, but for the most part they worked well on good butane. The Ronson or King butane would work for one or two refills, then no amount of adjustment would get it working well/reliablly again. Even my two Colibri lighters died in the same fashion on cheap butane.

I probably have a couple dozen jetlites floating around here.Yea I have thrown a few away but for $4 if I can get that 3-4 months you claim to get I am damn happy.Most of mine however have lasted at least a couple years or more.As stated above good fuel is the key.Bought me a case of Power 5X refined butane a few years ago........nothing but pleased.

Only light I've purchased that works a damn with cheap or good butane is the black ops alpha lighter for like 4 or 7 bucks on here. It was stupid cheap. Got a bunch of xikar that suck with good butane. Put cheapie ronson butane in my black ops and it works like a champ. Also I drop it constantly because I'm generally absent minded and irresponsible.

I got the alec bradley bunson burner style for home use. its never failed me yet

Ronson jetlite, less than 4 bucks, and I have had 3 or 4 for over 2 years, garage, work truck, back porch, etc. Hate to admit, but I have only used the Ronson butane in all of them, and they are still going strong. The only requirement is that you wait about 5-10 minutes after filling, before you use, guess it let's the temp stabilize.
