I love me some red or golden delicious apples... but I have to say, even at 3 times the price ($2.99 a lb vs $.99 a lb) honey crisp apples are certainly the best apples evah!

Discuss.

Fuji apples are very good IMHO

If you can find them, Macoun apples makes an incredible apple pie and are better eating than grannie smiths.

Glad you posted this Macs, my kids got me gift cards from a nearby nursery for Fathers Day and I've been waiting for Fall to arrive to decide what " other " tree / trees to plant in our orchard and I'm leaning toward an apple or two. Just don't know which varieties fare well in the Midwest

A good friend suggested planting a Crab Apple of some sort for the second " cross pollinator " because apparently their pollination period lasts much longer than other apple varieties....anyone else heard this??
