Just saw the movie today in IMAX. Can't see why someone would suffer through to climb up there.

I think the mountain is closed to climbers now. People paid over 70 grand for the chance of reaching the top

The movie and senery were goid. Also saw Martian which was good as well.

Climbing an ice cold mountain that could possibly kill you is not my idea of a good time.

Of course, I am against sky diving, too... since one of our coworkers, who was a sky diving TEACHER, pancaked because his chute failed to open.

Yeah... he's dead. The fall was cool... it was the complete and sudden stop at the bottom that killed him.

I actually know a guy personally who paid over $60K (twice) as he nearly died during his first summit attempt ( made it to 24k feet and was so ill he had to be taken down from the mountain. After regaining his health a few years later he tried ( successfully ) to summit it again. I remember during one of the attempts PBS's " NOVA " did a video documentary of the groups summit attempt and they had a link for anyone who wished to send them a note of well wishes could....and I did. Here is a link to the 1997 trip " Into thin air " and conversations with the climbers....my friend is David Carter...

Great now the airlines will find a way to charge us for that too.

Cool. I'll submit that as a revenue increasing idea.
