Whistlebritches

As some of you know I left the oilfield a few months ago to get away from the ups and downs of the industry. It was a good move.......sold my equipment and took a job in the wind industry.Well today I was met with a layoff notice. Some company goals feel short, work is slow in the winter, but I was assured if I could ride it out til March my job would be available but quite likely not in the same capacity after some company restructuring takes place.I gotta say I didn't see this coming.I'll survive..........the good Lord has always taken care of me and my family in our darkest moments and this is but a mere bump in the road. There are more getting the notice over the next few weeks, some with young families. Please keep them in your prayers..........worst time of the year to be jobless for anyone but especially a family man.

On the bright side I was a little concerned about finding time to hunt this fall.......It would seem that issue has been resolved.

Sorry to hear, whistlebritches. My SIL's brother also got a layoff notice. He was in the oil industry for 20 years, topping out as a safety manager. His company was bought out a year or so ago, and his safety position was eliminated, so he took a spot on one of their off-shore rigs. That rig's production declined recently so he was laid off. He's kicking back for a couple of months before serious job hunting starting beginning of 2016. He's considering solar or wind power industries...he's done with oil...

Good luck with your job prospects and happy hunting...

If at all possible I am steering clear of the oil industry.Thinking about doing just what your BIL is doing.....start 2016 fresh.Maybe even roll right back into my old position in the WI if it's still available.Only time will tell.

Good luck to you Ron. I'm on the second week of an unplanned vacation myself. Just trying to make the best of it. Hopefully things will turn around quickly for the both of us.
