The Church of the FSM started as a joke online... oh.. had to have been sometime when I was in high school around 12-15 years ago.
Atheist kids on 4Chan and Reddit used to use it as an argument for how ridiculous religion is, saying believing in god makes as much sense as believing in a Flying Spaghetti Monster.
So it's been around a while, most of the people who use it think they're being edgy or random.
Can be found wearing colanders on their heads and it appears to be a new global religion/church - The Church of the flying Spaghetti Monster.
