Been creeping around for probably close to 3 yrs now, never really made any posts.....

Been keeping my small stash of cigars in a desk top humidor for probably a yr or so now and just finally built a coolerdor....it was cheap enough I should have built one a while ago. I'll probably go broke filling it though. Thats probably what kept me from building it.


I got introduced to Acids (please don't hurt me), then transitioned in to Gurkha, and currently my favorites are Olivia and CAO!! Over the years I have tried alot of different cigars but still have not figured out a favorite. Probably because most of what I've had has been crap!

Basically I'm just looking for recommendations on what to try and what not to try. I'm always willing to accept advice and tips....

I'm a Correction Officer with the NYS Dept of Corrections so I'm paid to be a sarcastic prick, so after creeping around here for a while it appears I may fit right in.....

Sorry that you did "Acids" - we all make foolish choices as youngsters - J/K

For now - start by sampling wide variety of cigars. Don't make box purchases without first sampling a few for yourself. We all have different tastes - and these tastes evolve. You do not want to end up with a cooler full of cigars you only want to give away. Try some samplers; get a few fivers; explore your palate. Learn about the different leaf and their tastes. Learn about manufacturer and the rollers/designers who craft the cigars. What you like - others may loathe. It is personal taste.

Keep your infused and flavored cigars completely separate from the natural cigars - You do not want to ruin the natural cigars.

Go to the Trades forum and sign up on the Noob Trades #45 thread to get assigned a Vet for a trade. That will quickly expand your choices and get you some trade cred here.

Always check who you are biding against before you place a bid - if the current winner has an APO address - let the win go to the Soldier serving our Country. They deserve to receive a break. The same cigars will come up again shortly as they are usually in some sort of rotation. If at first you do not win - just keep trying.

Keep a thick skin - it can be a little rough here at times. Just keep coming back.
