Hope it turned out well, I had the wrong target temp for the wrong part of the bird. Was going for 180 in the breast. Didn't do a Google search beforehand, just kinda threw it in there. Around 150F, I did a quick search and read 165-170F to complete. Checked right before bed and was at 172. Did another check of the Google and the 165 temp is for the thigh... so, I pulled the bird out, wrapped it on the counter to cool.

Grabbed a neat short pour of Macallan and an Ashton short corona. Killing 20 minutes in the garage until the smoker's cooled enough to clean up.

Nothing warms my heart like watching the implosion of athletes with million dollar bodies and ten cent heads.

Bengals must of graduated from the Ray Lewis Smartz and Clazz academy.

Turkey didn't turn out very good, quite dry. Definitely overcooked by a lot. The wings n legs are damn near jerky, and the breast is like hospital sammich grade turkey.

Dogs are gonna eat well for a few days.

I smoked a turkey once. The meat came out smokey and delicious, but the skin was like rubber.

I prefer frying them. Faster, and I love the crispy skin.

Brother in law has made smoked turkey for a couple family things and it's been fantastic.

Asked him today what I did wrong, he said he cooks at over 300° F and is done in about 30-40m/lb over my hour/lb, plus the whole overshooting temp thing.

It was a free turkey from work. I've experimented with them every year. Sliced one up, breaded and deep fried turkey fingers. Fried a whole one which didn't work out so well. Butterfly'd and grilled one which was pretty good, but only in spots as most was quite burned. And now I've tried to smoke one. Next year if I take the turkey home I'll give it another shot.

Watching the Steelers Bengals highlights again.

I have the same warm feeling I had when I was holding a warm cup of coffee while opening presents on Christmas Day.

Did anynone see Pacman Jones' initial classy explanation of his feelings?

Yeah, I've always found that any kind of poultry in a smoker seems to do better at around 300-350. It's a more delicate texture and not really the tough piece of meat with a lot of connective tissue e a pork butt or beef chuck roast so it doesn't really benefit from the long slow cook as much.

I'm not a big fan of turkey in general, so I don't really have to worry about it that much. When I cook them, it's typically for someone else.

Getting so tired of dealing with my daughters mostly deadbeat dad. Dude spent hundred last week on vintage star wars toys. She comes down with strep throat this weekend while shes at his place (Where she goes every weekend), he has the audacity to go to my wifes place of business with his hand out to pay for the medicine because he has no money.

Meanwhile yknow, shes on my insurance, I cover everything for her.

No regrets on taking care of my baby girl, just getting frustrated with this loser who cant get out of his dads basement. Tired of having to bail him out so our daughter doesn't have to suffer.

Then when my daughter doesn't like what I have to say because shes acting up its always "I want to go to my daddys" because he doesn't discipline her at all.

I've watched that man say he didn't have $1.00 to get her a banana for a snack then buy a pile of Blu-Ray movies 20 minutes later.

Sorry to rant, he's just getting on my last nerve and I need to holler about it to someone.

Im a family man, and hes a child, and I hate how the most important thing in his life is him, not her.

Brewing another Russian Imperial Stout today.

BIG bill. 20+ lbs of grain in my mashtun. Among the largest I've done. Rarely go over 14lbs without some help like DME or candi sugar in Belgian styles.

Here's to hoping... doubt I'll get the efficiency I'd like from a mash this huge. Likely going to end up collecting over 10g wort to boil just to get somewhere near the numbers I'm looking for. Gonna be a long brewday. Good thing I brought a churchill.

Zero, while I hear you, not everyone is a family guy. But, if you want to play parent, gotta play provider.

To be completely honest, if/when my wife leaves, I'll be a deadbeat as well, but not with any visitation. Cut ties, cut funds. Would probably quit working legit and do cash jobs to ensure that.

Wait, what? If you have no kids, I can see that... the courts probably won't, but I can. If you have kids... the responsible thing to do is A) provide for them and 😎 be a father to them.

(biological kids, or adopted kids... if the kid has a father who is being fatherly, you're off the hook - just my opinion mind you)
