I figured this was a sales gimmick but I just cracked a nitro white ale and this is a damn good beer. The nitro really does make the brew creamy and smooth not to mention it's a pretty good wheat beer. Makes a crazy sound when you crack the can open too, my wife jumped when I opened it!!!

Also have a dark coffee stout to try next.

Hope Sam Adams keeps these special projects around. I am enjoying this beer quite a lot.

I almost bought a six pack of Guinness nitro IPA.

The coffee stout is almost as good as the white ale. The white ale is very good.

I had the Saranac Nitro Brown and I did not care for it. I will give Sammy a try.

Some local places serve various beers on nitro.

Best pizza joint here sells Deschutes Obsidian Stout on nitro, great mouth feel and slightly changes the taste.

Some beers don't benefit from nitro, some do.

Don't get the Guinness Nitro IPA.

Very bland.

It actually starts out pretty decent, with the creaminess of the nitro making for a nice contrast to the hop aroma. But after about 5 minutes it's like the flavor just dissipates. Gone. Nada. Adios.

I heard the Sam Adams dude Jim Koch (pronounced cook) on the radio talking about the Nitro project. Sounds like they're better prepared to deal with what happens to the hops in a nitrogen environment.

Stouts and porters are the only one's I've seen on draught.

Usually is a good combo.

Haven't tried a bunch of beers on nitro but the few I have I didn't care for. People seem to love the nitro aspect of it though for some reason on some of the FB beer groups I am in. To me it is kind of gimmicky so I avoid them after trying a few and not enjoying them as much.

Generally speaking, a lot of the Sam Adams beer we get out here isn't on par with what comes out of their breweries on the East coast. We get the pisswater made under contract by Miller-Coors. They swear it's the same, and it might be the same formula, but there are other factors that affect a beer and how it tastes. Also, this is a personal opinion, I don't think a lot of Jim's beer holds up well over time. Fresh it's a really good beer. Get it fresh at the source, Boston Brewing Co, and it's incredibly good. But 120 days out and made with modified processes and other variables, like most of what we see from them on this coast, it's crap.

Adam?

You just used a lot of words to say what I said. Recap: Sam Adams' beer is pedestrian, at best. The #1, best offering from Sammy... ain't worth a nickel when compared to a decent, local craft brew... such as Aftershock.

AND-- compared to a similar brewery on the left coast, such as Sudwerk... G'night Gracie.
