FHA loan is a joke, when I bought my house two years ago I checked into a FHA loan, the monthly payment was going to be higher and interest rate was worse then just getting a regular loan.

I had FHA, briefly. 6.x% interest on a 30 yr loan. Refinanced sub 3% on a 10 yr loan.

Plow boy you are right. Add in the fact that you are paying mortgage insurance to protect the bank and it's worse. But for some without a decent down payment it's the only option. Thus buying is not always better than renting.

Paid off my house a long time ago . Taxes. maintenance, Insurance and utilities still cost close to 600 bucks a month and then there was the time the septic line had roots and the street had to be dug up and a tree removed(6000bucks), Windows 8000.00. Yep a good rental is not always a bad thing or Maybye a trailer in the woods..

Owning here in Orlando was more costly for a long time as there were more rentals than the market could fill. Personally, my monthly mortgage is less than I could currently rent my house for.

I read the lease, I read the lease, I read the lease. It is nowhere in the original lease from 6 years ago when he bought the house from the previous landlord. Previous landlord was a saint! New landlord not so much. rfenst's advice makes good sense. This landlord is unpleasant to put it mildly. So rather than stir stuff up I will play along. He has never provided us with any bank statements regarding the security deposit either. I am pretty sure that he is supposed to. The silver lining here is that while I am sad/proud that my little girl will be graduating high school in 2017, my wife put me at ease by suggesting that we will pack up and go wherever she decides to attend college. I hope it will be south or west. The property taxes in this area are absurd. A log cabin on a lake or a cottage by the shore would be nice. I got a picture of it in my mind's eye!

They can live in the dorm together, and share the cafe card.

Thanks again to all for your input. I found a book in the library "Every Tenant's Legal Guide". Strange thing is, I wasn't even looking for it.

Do you hang out in the high school library while your daughter goes to class?
