I usually wait a few days upon receiving a shipment of cigars to light one. My theory was to let the condition of the cigars to regulate to the tempurature and RH of my humidors. I feel this is a good practice, but I am curious about the length of time you guys wait. Opinion?

Few days won't do much. Temp changes quickly, and rule of thumb on RH is 1%/week. You can radically change, of course (e.g. "dry box") but even then its mostly superficial change, to the wrapper (and promotes cracking, etc)

2 months minimum

If it is something I want to try real bad I wait a few days but if it is something I have had before there is no telling how long I may wait. Whenever the urge hits me.

It isn't going to gain or lose humidity in transit, so how the vendor stores them makes a difference. Most vendors store them 70-72° rh. I store mine at 65° rh so I generally smoke one ROTT if I really want to try one, then let them sit for at least 2 months. If I've had them before they go to sleep.

BUT......some cigars smoke better flavor wise fresh, for example many prefer Drew Estates Ligas fresher as well as Tatuaje Reservas fresh. But not everyone.....tastes are different for many BOTL/SOTL.

I will smoke one rott and let the rest take a nap some times depends on if I have had it before

I have enough of a supply that unless it is something that I have been craving, I wait it out for awhile. Month, months, year, years....depends.

They get frozen here and then are put to bed unless as others have said, it is something new and a quick burn is in order.

At least a week minimum. Regarding the comment on some being better fresh........unless you buy a whole box and it is dated, it's really hard to know. There may have been a huge purchase at warehouse and slow sales resulting in some aging, which for most gars is a good thing.

It all depends on the weather condition in transit, but the real factor is the individual cigar. A few are good or as good as they will be ROTT. The rest need a nap or some sleep.

I open upon recieving. Check the wrappers, smell the box and smoke one for safe measure. If they are prime, I don't want to miss that moment. I will put a few in the 150count and the rest in the coolerador. There, all steps taken.
