I won the Tower of Power humi a couple weeks ago and have been eagerly waiting for its arrival.

The humi arrived at the house Wed. I encountered some problems with the shipping company . First off, there was no shipping info available, so I had no idea when it would be arriving. I was at work when the delivery driver called the house and asked the wife if she could get a pick up truck and meet him on the highway to unload it , he was not sure he could get down the road to my house. The wife assured him he could make it to the house. The delivery driver said he would be there some time before noon and would need help unloading the humi, because of its size and weight.

The wife called me at work to let me know it was coming. So i tell the wife, The Cbid website states do not sign for the item until you have inspected it. When the driver gets there tell him you want to open the box and look the humi over, for broken glass, gouges in the wood etc. before you sign the receipt. If he does not agree, tell him don't worry about unloading it and that we will contact Cbid to resolve the problem.

Well, that is pretty much exactly what happened. He showed up and stated it was against ( the shipping companys' ) policy to allow the receiving party to inspect their shipment prior to signing for receipt.

The wife called me and gave me the news, my humi had come and gone.

I called Cbid customer service and spoke to Jessica, told her what had happened and she replied, " If you would have signed for it and once the box was opened, if there was a problem, we could have taken care of it. So I tell her That's not what the website states. The website states inspect the item before signing for receipt. Maybe you all should change what's written on the website to be more in line with what you just told me. She said yeah, but we usually handle it on a case by case basis.

Jessica then tells me she will pass the info to the dept. manager and get back to me with an answer in regards to what the next step should be.

I spoke to Jessica again on Fri. She told me her dept. manager said there is a sticker on the box with the instructions : Inspect the box for major damage, if there is no major damage sign for receipt. Upon opening the box if the item is damaged call this number for resolution #???-???-???? .

I said OK what do we do now ? She said it'll be reshipped at a cost of $40 plus dollars. I asked who was going to absorb the reshipping fee ? She said I would have to. I wasn't happy, I told Jessica I'd like to speak with her manager, she said no problem and transferred my call to Chuck. He wasn't in so I left a voicemail.

It was getting late in the afternoon and I didn't expect to hear from Chuck until Mon. Much to my surprise he called me back about an hour later. I rehashed the story with him and told him I didn't believe I should be responsible for the reshipping fee. I told him my wife didn't see the box or the sticker as the box wasn't even unloaded. My and I didn't see any point in having the driver unload it, if it couldn't be inspected before signing for receipt, and no one was aware of further instructions pasted on the box.

He agreed to absorb the reshipping fee !

I also suggested that they change the verbage associated with inspecting items before signing for reciept and make it a little more accurate. Possibly adding something about the sticker that contains further receiving instructions.

Chuck told me he would speak to the IT dept. about it and wished me a good weekend.

So in short, my hats off to Cbid customer service for resolving the problem in a timely manner, and I look forward seeing a change in the receiving instructions posted on the website.

And I am once again eaglery awaiting the arrival of my new piece of furniture !

Thanks

Cuda"

I think that your hassles could have been avoided if the impatient delivery driver had used a little more common sense. This guy forgot that he is a reflection of his company AND Cbid. Also sounded like he had attitude with your wife from the getgo- not much of a "gentleman".

WTG Cbid!

Good seeing you 'Cuda!!

i don't see where you say the driver had a bad attitude.

have you ever drove a semi down small streets with low power lines? that's his JOB if he tears something up and money out of his pocket to get it fixed. and if it's his company's polices then it's his job to enforce them. as for customer service i'm glad someone is happy with it.

p.s. not trying to start a fight, just know what it's like to drive a semi

The driver didn't have an attitude, in fact he called his supervisor to check if it would be OK to open the box. It was more a case of conflicting policies.

Cbid says inspect the item prior to signing

The shipping company says you can't

Had my wife or myself been aware of further receiving instructions pasted on the box, I'm sure there wouldn't have been any problem at all.

I wanted the driver to be aware of the instructions I knew about, so a decsion could be made before he unloaded it. I figured, if his companys' policy wouldnt allow me to inspect it, why make him unload and then reload the box.

To re-emphasize : Cbid customer service did a fine job of handling the situation so far.

When the humi gets here I'll post an update

BTW, it's good to see you too blood !!!

Glad too read your last post Cuda. My point was not all truck drivers are a$$holes. One good thing is that I finally posted something instead of just lurkin. Damn may have to do a intro now.
