This Cigar Bids site is just so wonderful, as I do not have to get beat out of $.22/Stick Cigar Vice Tax, plus my local Sales Tax depending on what municipality I buy in that is between 9.2% - 11.2%.

The black & white truth is say a $5.00 retail Cigar ends up costing $5.77 a stick, with Seventy Seven Cents a stick being tax. Plus most of the local B & M shop sell at MSRP, or MSRP + 10-15% depending how upon the cigar.

I have already won a few auctions already, and can not believe all the money I saved over buying locally. I kind of feel sorry for the local B & M shops.

But when I was in business I was not on any of my clients favorite charities list.

Welcome to the asylum, Tabloid. Cigar prices are even more outrageous in California, and like you, I found CBid to help get good cigars at lower prices. I still go by the local B & Ms occasionally and pick up a few here and there, just to help out the "little" guys, but most of my purchases are on-line.

Be forewarned: you will soon find $5 cigars to be mostly pedestrian.

I like to save but I also support my local B&Ms and if you think taxes are bad in AZ try next door in Cali.

Scottsdale here.

Edit: delta types faster than I do on this friggin' IPad.

YOU MUSN't he's protected
By your "local shpo owners" like some other
One time poster was...

Word to the warning...

Different state's have different laws...

Some require you to report your tobacco purchases and pay taxes on them...
Some state's have sued internet cigar companies and credit card companies to get lists of tobacco purchases by their residents....

While rare indeed... It can happen to you but PROLLY not... It can go back MANY YEARS...
Get a fake credit card and ask others how they get around it? Washington state comes to mind...
Like I said, reasearch it a little and see if your politicians are PRICKS and do that...

NO,
It started with a nosey busy body CLUELESS Ball capped cop named " STEW"....

In the meanwhile, during his initial nosiness...
Of him trying to be "all's incognito" ( which I noticed immediately the second time I ever saw him) on a very random surveillence schedule...
( the mudderfucker would come to the yard sales at my HUT and start looking IN my garage where nothing was for sale and just be a weird nosey prick who wouldn't leave... who showed up everywhere I went, It was so obvious it was pathetic)....

IN THE INTERIM...
I happened to witness what I thought was a serious threat to a town in central PA and I reported it to the FBI...

That's when the "Advance SSG team" started in on my ass, unnoticed at first , but after about 2-3 months is when I noticed... ( I have been a Hunter all my life and I watch my surroundings).

Soooo,
then I took pictures of most of them with a pocket pen camera ( which they never noticed) &
I dropped said pen off " to a higher power"...

Then about 4-5 months later, the SSG forced an early released FELON to ruffle/drug my draft beer at a bar when I went to the bathroom....
The next day ( after getting a set-up D.U.I. CHARGE w/ no blood or breath test to prove I was drugged)
was when the start of an INTENSE SSG GANGSTALKING CAMPAIGN began ... that has gone on for 3.75 years now ( and cost them $49.5 million as stated by an AGENT at a bar I frequent).

Well what I have found in most of the local B & M in my neck of the woods is most of the shops are dirty & dusty, staff is only their to hang out with there friends & regulars, staff know nothing their products, knows little about customer service, does not greet customers, asking simple thing like can I help you find something, or tell you about specials. So this does not give me any reason to want to spend my money in this business.

I was actually in a local B & M for a first time and the clerk asked were do you buy your cigars usually. I replied on line listing a couple of my favorite places I shop at. The clerk replied because "I" lived in the comunity I should support the local B & M shop. I said I will shop locally when the locals can compete with or come close to prices on Internet.

I did not say but was thing what I was thinking. That being your B & M is not my favorite charity, and what have you ever done for me your potential customer that I would support you sorry business.

This same shop had a table with everything on it a buy 3, and get 2 for free. Was not until the third trip to this shop that the Sunday guy who never saw me before. Asked if I knew about their close out table. I said no, he pointed, and I dropped a chunk of change on good smoking slow movers.

The women who is mostly there ocassionall during the week is a shall we say not professional, dresses like the cleaning lady who came one a week to clean my uncles home. Maybe is is dressing for her afternoon gig or second job stand on a cornor with a cardboard sign.

LOL, I know which store this is, haven't been there in a while though.

Sometimes they got good schit on that table (thanks for the spelling z). When they have good stuff on that table, it's usually the best deal you can find around here.

One time they had LGs on it (well, they didn't for long).

(The cleaning lady comment is what made a lightbulb go off).

Pretty sure that lady is one of the owners, she's been there as long as I can remember.

As far as buying locally, I buy from shpos from time to time, but I don't make any big purchases from them cause that's just a waste of money.

I have made it a mission to visit most of the Cigar shops in the area reside. Thr reason is simple in that I want to see all the shops, get on their mailing lists for events, and last have an idea what brand are available where.

I like to try new stuff, and buy a stick or two this time of year beat Cigar coming out of the East Coast during our 110 degree weather.

I have actually found owner shop in the Valley that is what I call heads above the rest with customer service, selection, knowledgeable staff, and it is like a Cigar Disneyland or Magic Kingdom. Apprently the own understand what it take to be sucessful, and sucessful he is.

I honestly do not understand the business plan of some of the other shop who do everything wrong, have good inventory, refuse to clean the dust & find prints off item for sale. I think these hobby cigar shop are just that hobby businesses. Guy said it would be cool to have a cigar shop. He got a loan, bought inventory, found a space to rent, and never put any effort into the business. The man forget that happy customers return because they were treated important. Customer are important weather they buy 5 loose stick, or 5 boxes. As the profit from those sales pays the bills. Small customers are as important as the guy who buys five boxes for 300.00 each.

Anyone who say me as a customer is just expecting too much from a cigar shop. I would ask you would you continue to eat at a resturant that was always dirty, the food was always served cold, taste horrible, and the wait staff just projected an attatude they just hate you & their job.

I got a little box from CB at my POB today, it was well packed, it was what I won, and it was convent for me to run down to the POB and get my smokes. I did some number crunching, figured I saved about 48%on this order had I bought the same stuff locally. That is not pocket change, is serious coinage.

The other nice thing CB offer Cigar not available in my region of the country. So it is possible to win a coupe of singles, or a 5 pack. Test drive em, and buy more if they are good.

When I had my own business I made it a point to spend money wisely, look for deals, and if the local guy could compete with mail order they had a chance at my business.

I was not my clients favorite charity, what I did was highly competitive, and had I not been a top performer. I would have gone under the first year in business.

I understand there are people I call charitable. They give ever pan handler a buck or two because they feel sorry for em. If some guy is standing on a corner with a cardboard sign they will again help him at his job, and keep him employed. Panhandling with cardboard sign.

These same people support the local B & M shop because of some sense of loyalty, guilt, or other reason. I ask the people what have you got in return for all your charity?

The internet is here to stay, it is getting bigger and bigger. The one thing I know for sure is the B & M’s that are customer friendly, creative with marketing, promotion, events, and a good business plan are here to stay. The hobby cigar shop will all shut down sooner or later.
