Any muslim b/sotl around here?

Does anyone here know for sure what the belief taught in their churches is regarding attitude toward non muslims and also is there evidence that muslim leaders are denouncing/promoting the ideologies of ISIS?

I'm catholic and try to live by the golden rule

Love God above all else and love your neighbor as yourself

Simple right? But very difficult to maintain every minute of the day.

God bless the families of all victims of hate crimes.

They worship at a mosque, not a church. Churches are for Christians.

Read the Qua'aran for starters.

Secondly if you're looking for a Catholic based answer to your question, catholicanswers.org is a great place to post your question.

I will tell you that Qua'aran states that the people of the book are to be respected.

Also Muslims consider Mary to be an Immaculate Virgin but are forbidden to call her "Mother of God"

Additionally Jesus they consider Jesus to be the Messiah but reject the trinity outright. He is considered 'rightly guided' and a great king according to their tradition but they dispute the details of his crucifixion.

Then again they dispute the account in genesis as to why Lucifer was cast out of heaven.

And I might be wrong on this because I am only basing this on the conversation with just one Muslim but they also do not regard Melchezedek to be of any relevance in the overall development of Abraham. From what I was told 'God revealed all to Abraham.' A lot of folks do not understand the significance but it is noteworthy.

Yet we still celebrate him as one of our best presidents. We even built a statue and stuff.

Mith I really appreciate your question but doubt you will get much of an answer. I highly doubt many Muslims would hang around here given the views of most the experts in here that know more about Islam than practicing Muslims.

I think they recognize Jesus as a prophet, but not the Messiah. I read bits and pieces years ago - the things that stuck with me on that may be a bit controversial, and I don't have the proper knowledge of context to speak on them with even vague authority. I will say that while I'm not a fan of the religion, the Muslims I know seem quite nice.

Mith does your church or any other church in the area participate in a multi religion group? It's pretty common to have leaders from all major religions in an area get together to talk about such things. It's fascinating.

I'm not sure about the Catholic Church in your area. Catholics and babtists seem to think they will be the only ones in heaven lol. J/k

simplified, but Islam traces itself back to the OT, Abraham begat Ishmail who was driven away, yet holds the birthright, in Muslim belief, over Isaac...through the NT and then to what they believe is the correct (second) rewrite/third edition. Allah is the name of God to them in their language(s), not a second God, but the God of the Old Testament as well.

Odd that many Americans have far less trouble accepting LDS adherents as a real religious group even though they follow the third rewrite/fourth book which promises yet another reward. And I know there are not many, if any, mass murdering Mormans (mormen?) so I am not talking about lack of what we see as terrorists. I'm just saying Americans by and large do not question if the religion itself is "accredited" as if to skip over the third link from the OT to the fourth.

My tribe feels the first edition (prequel?) was perfect, but that will never sell here...and we do not recruit. HA!

The Mormons are smart. They are collecting data and kill us all at once rather than drubs and drabs. Muslims are dumb. They tipped their hand.

Are you kidding? They probably use screenshots from this forum as a recruitment tool and to rile their guys up enough to drive trucks into crowds.

Really smart of Le HockeyDad to lay the groundwork years ago to convince them we're on a french cigar forum.... he really saved a lot of american lives....

... Yeah... We argue with each other for years and you never take anything I say at face value.... I make a sarcastic comment about Islam and you're going to take it as gospel.

Frank it really has to do with the Law and where the Authority is delegated. In the strictest Jewish sense, who has the Keys.

Judiasm lays claim to the Law under Moses. Christianity, oddly enough maintains it's claim under the Law by both Melchezedek and Jesus, who is really still representative of the Mosaic covenant though the prevailing thought is that he alone bears the covenant of Moses. This is why you see Jesus advocating the Oral Law at the time because the priests of the Temple were manipulating it to suit the greed in their hearts.

Obviously Jesus was not the only one advocating for more transparency regarding the Oral law because history goes to show that the Oral Law was written down shortly after the destruction of the temple some forty to fifty years after Christ.

The fact remains that Abraham himself was not a priest of any the sort and he consulted with Melchezedek in order to gain understanding of the Law. And what of Ishmael? Was he a priest of any sort? Judiasm follows a set line of prophets and it was only until after the temple was detroyed that the line was broken, likewise Christianity follows apostolicly. Islam has no apostolic following, it cannot prove that authority has been delegated to it because there is no line of succession from Ishmael onward. Mohammed cleverly addresses this when he says "who are you to say what God wills." But the fact remains that there is very little authority in the priestly sense and both you and I know according to Jewish and Christian customs that the Priesthood is the mechanism by which authority is delegated.

These People are still in a Dark Age Mentality when things were settled by violence. Maybe if they were enlightened we could tolerate them and maybe they would realize the teachings are about converting lives not ending them. However things are not there yet so we must defend ourselves and all of the innocents that they would destroy because of their perverted views . And that means War!
