I've been shopping for a used truck. The forum helped me decide which brand and fuel type. While I was shopping on the internet I came across an article about BioDiesel, a blend of petrolium diesel and any kind of seed oil - peanut, corn, soy, etc - up to 50%. I also read about some adventurous people cutting waste oil from fast food joints with kerosene to make their own version, while some people chemically alter the waste fryer oil to make a pure fuel for their diesel cars.

Anybody out there using a form of BioDiesel, either commercial or home made? The reason for asking is simple: if it can be done, cheaper fuel from waste fryer oil makes buying a diesel truck easier to handle with the price difference versus gasoline trucks.

Funny ... on the way to work this morning, I drove behind a rig with a sign on the back proudly stating it ran on Bio-Diesel ...

Sorry to say, all I know about these is what I learned reading that label and your post ...

I'm waiting for methane power. The older I get, the more I know I could power my own car.

I hear ya. My wife always wants to serve things like baked beans or broccoli for supper and then wonders why I could fuel the Space Shuttle afterward.
