Basically the Bills lost a heart breaking Super Bowl to the NY Giants when their kicker missed a game winning field goal when it sailed "wide right". That is what Joe Namath was referring to on the phone.

The Jets haven't won anything in over 40 years and the Bills have never won a Super Bowl but they made it 4 straight years. That's why Joe was referring to his ring.
