Hey guys, I am thinking about switching over to a cooler for my cigar storage. Can you fill me in on the humidification beads for this method? Is this the only good way to properly humidify a cooler? What is the best product to buy that won't break the bank and where is the best place to get them for a good price?

Someone told me to not use the cat litter...not sure if you are being serious or not, especially given the lettuce comment. So random.

Personally, I use Heartfelt 65% beads in ALL my humis and coolers, and they work GREAT . . . just a wee bit pricey, but worth it in my opinion.

I also need some help in regards to the setup of the cooler. From what I have read you just stick the boxes in and some beads and let it go. Anything else I need to know? How do the cigars inside the boxes get proper humidity? What do you do if you have loose cigars and no boxes to put them in?

Oh...and if you're thinking about using kitty litter, please send cacman a note asking advice.

I don't use KL, but I do consider it a viable alternative....mostly I'm amused by the animated arguments about it

I use HF, KL, and Bovedas. They all work.

Everyone has a preference and for the most part that is all it is preference. I have used kitty litter and and hf beads. The only difference I see is the price and the KL needed a little more attention by spraying more often with distilled water. Other then that they work the same from my experience.

When buying Heartfelt beads, do you guys stick with the bags of them that you then place in your own containers or do you get the tubes/discs? Trying to figure out the best option. I have two 150 ct humidors that I want to buy them for (although I may need to move to a cooler soon as I am running out of space). Also trying to figure out exactly how much I need to properly humidify these two boxes.

Also, how do you decide what humidity level you should get (60, 65, 70)?
