Some of my cigars have very tiny bumps on the wrapper, much like teeny weeny goosebumps. Also, the ash often displays this effect as well. Does anybody know what these are, and are they a sign of a problem? Different brands have shown this, and I've never read anything about these before. The cigars smoke fine, with no apparent effect. Information would be appreciated.

not to worry, those bumps are probably just beetle eggs, easily destroyed while you smoke.

These are beetle eggs. I would not be necessarily alarmed as they may not actually be viable. The manufacturers go to great lengths to sterilize beetles so the eggs they do produce do not hatch. If they are viable eggs, they can indeed be destroyed by smoking. As an added precaution though....because you can never be to careful with your smokes: Take added care that your 'dor does not get above 70F. Closer to 65F would be better.(they should still age at this temp. if a little slower.) Also decrease the humidity to about 65 (or as low as you find them still smokeable.) Also, check them often. At the first sign of hatching, you must perform the freezing ritual. I know folks who perform the freezing ritual as standard practice even with non-egg-laden smokes. Lastly, DONT PICK INFESTED CIGARS!!

Couldn't they just be leaf pores...pours...pours...pures...Damned english language! That's what I always ass-umed, especially because they seem to be on the more "premium" cigars, specifically Cohiba(red dots).

i know what you mean , dont know what they are, but i know what they arent, and thats beatle eggs..

After a few Scotches one night, I thought that my cigar had goosebumps. Then I realized that I had mistakenly lit my arm, instead of my cigar. My burning arm actually smelled similar to the Ancla y Cazador, only better.

Your arm is obviously infested with beetle eggs too...

I suggest spraying Raid on your cigars before putting them in the humidor. In doing this, I've never had a beetle infestation. I did go temporarily blind from the poison. But it was a small price to pay.

squattro is right, these are most likely 'tooth'. Look it up on CA or cigarnexus for more info. It's nothing to worry about. Why is it not t.b. (tobacco beetles)? T.B.'s are really really small, too small to lay such large eggs (their eggs are microscopic). I would however, suggest the freeze for two days, fridge for two days, and back into the humidor method to insure against beetles. You can never be too sure. Sorry this posts lacks my usual little joke, but I figured you probably needed an actual answer this time...
