ATUCK
may i suggest that more time is spent by botl trying to determine the authenticity of cuban cigars.
prior to the embargo and before excellent cigras were available from the dominican, less then 20@% of cigars bought from cigar shops were from cuba.
the reason as explained to me by a cigar store owner of more then 50 years is they cost too much and were not worth the difference.
now there are many excellent cigars coming out of the dominican and other places that the heavy price for cuban cigars is over the top.
a box of cuban cigars, for example, monte cristo #2's can be bought, illegally for about $250.00 a box of 25.
are they worth $10.00 each? that is probably a matter of taste or discretionary income.
it was suppossed to be the dirt, the earth that the tobacco grew in that made the leaves so much better then anywhere else.
is cuba taking the same care of the land that was owned by the private cigar growers to insure it's maintaining whatever was in the ground that made the tobacco grow better? personally i doubt it.
i appreciate a cigar from an ISOM, but i think it's more like making it with one of the oinks. probably not any better, but the idea seems to make it special.
