I had spoke with Damarie a while back asking about the limits of pic sizes to be posted on the forum. She stated that she was told by the tech staff it is based on file size not pixel size but did not know the limits. I had seen where some was having issues in not knowing the size so I started doing some testing. Yesterday I put it to the test by starting with a photo I had taken years ago that is large in pixels and in file size. The photo pixel size is 2048 x 1366 and had a file size 9meg. I reduced it to 916.3k which was to large. I kept the pixel size but started reducing the file size by compression. I went from "624.8k to big, 461.7k to big ,376.1k to big ,311.6k to big but once I hit 258.5k it took it. Now these are some fairly large jumps in file size. The system might take larger than 258.5 but will take time to find out.

Ok so with that said the pixel size can be of any size it is the file size that matters.

Now things to keep in mind for those that do not know much about what this actually means.

One: With a large pixel size photo the more the compression the less the quality of the photo.

Two: With a smaller pixel size the less compression is needed so therefore the better the quality of the photo.

The trick is to find the happy medium. If you want quality you have to find the size that takes less compression to hit the accepted file size. Or if size is of what is important to you and less quality.

Bottom line:

Any pixel size is accepted by the system. File size needs to be 258.5k or less. this is with a 53.1k error margin. Another words you might be able to add the 53k to the 258.5k but this is still in the testing phase but I do know it will accept 258.5k of any pixel size.
