we've had a G.E. upright for 40 years, still works great, but the shelf supports and stuff are broken (not GE's fault) so it's become less efficient to store stuff in now.

for a couple hundred bucks I was thinking of snagging the Imperial if it is quality.

It's quality enough that the shelf supports and stuff aren't broken, so you should go for it.
