As you can tell from the health care threads, I'm a huge fan of insurance companies....so, I'm considering throwing more money at them.

Online info and calculators are all over the map. If you have long term health care insurance, or are planning to get it, what's the age you started (will start?)

Don't have it and the older I get, the higher the premiums...my long term healthcare plan is an overdose of morphine or a few grams of lead...that's pretty cheap in comparison...

Check your blood sugar and check it often.

The only way I'm going this route is if it comes with an open bar and scantily clad hot nurses. This should be cheaper.........I figure you die much quicker

Interesting.
I didn't know this existed to be honest... I'm sure the devil is in the details, but if you've got a family history of degenerative brain disease I can see how it may be worthwhile.

My experience was about 12-16k monthly for care facility expenses, obviously the cost went up as more care/more assistance was needed. I don't know if you're looking at a policy that would cover 100% of that cost, but if it does, that's a pretty big deal.

Personally I'm just hoping by the time I hit 55 they develop a simple implant which releases a huge dose of morphine into your bloodstream the first morning you wake up and can't solve a simple timed brain puzzle.

...actually... come to think of it... patent pending on the above.

Dave, I'm not sure how long you were commissioned, but I think if it wasn't for more than half of your time... you qualify for the Armed Forces Retirement Home.

Gotta be 60 or over... and meet some other qualifications.

My plan is self-insured and stockpiling opis. Just watched my 96 year old FIL slowly and painfully pass and see no reason to live for years with absolutely no quality of life. YMMV

We got it between 60 and 63. We chose State Farm, we already had their home, rental and auto insurance and they have a good history with this type insurance.

The policy pays $200/day and does not require you to be completely incapacitated to start coverage. If you can stay at home but require some level of in home assistance it can cover the expense up to the daily limitation. Before any of you ask, it does not cover hookers and blow to relieve certain 'tensions' just real medical conditions.

They required a health exam and it currently costs between $210 and $238 a month, priced according to age and health conditions.

Yes, I rather just go all at once, and I have a living will, but I also don't want to piss away everything because I don't believe in suicide. No one likes to think about the end of their life, but it's a lot easier before you're half dead. No matter how tough you think you are today we all get old. I also don't want to leave a sh|t pile for my wife and or our two sons to clean up. I can say several times, been there, done that, it sucks.
