And even after scorching the leagues BEST defense for 31 points, and annihilating the Vikings, the national media continues to bad mouth the Eagles. [ram27bat]
Mike Florio of PFT thinks the Vikings would have won had the game been played in Minnesota. IDIOT !

Half of America thought the Eagles would win, maybe not even win- just stay within 3 points. The other half the country thought the opposite.

yawn...

so, the truth is that for a little over 3 quarters the Pats did not deserve the win. Jacksonville took it to them, out executed them, out hit them, even out coached them.

but it's hard to learn how to close out the big ones. When it mattered most, the Pats' D said that's enough, and Brady was Brady in the fourth. Amendola is N.E.'s Ginobli!.

And in the 4th quarter when the Jags should be working the clock and pounding Fournette the Jags they blew it. They didn’t work the clock, passed on 1st down, passed on 2nd down and then 3rd and long they had no choice but pass. Instead of chewing up minutes and punting they chewed up seconds and gave NE the ball right back. Contendersand pretenders get separated come crunch time, which is why NE is going to yet another SB and teams like Jacksonville are watching.

The game was won with 2:20 to go in the first half.
It was then that the Jags began to crumble.

With a 17-3 lead and the ball in NE territory, the Pats call time out at 2:20.
Coming back into play, the Jags complete a "first down" pass, only to have it called back due to DELAY OF GAME.
After a time out.
Next play is a sack of Bortles, and a flag for holding.
Time is 2:14.
It's now fourth down and the Jags are out of FG position so they choose to punt.
Sorry.
They choose to RUSH their punt.
So NE catches the ball with 2:02 still on the clock, thereby giving NE an additional time out with the 2 minute warning.

Brady leads the team downfield for 7.
55 seconds left.
Bortles takes a knee.
Twice.

Game OVER.

Never any doubt after the MELT DOWN by the Jags before halftime.

well, kind of the point of it being hard to learn how to close it out.

but yet they did try running Fournette on first down three consecutive possessions, totaled about 6 yards. You can't take away everything the other guys do but clearly the Pats game planned to not let the running game beat them.

And tailgater is 98.2% correct, end of first half is when the unraveling began. Having to punt seconds before the 2 minute warning? Most NFL fans have no appreciation of how well prepared the Patriots are for every tiny situation...it's not really about a great divide in talent.

And not to be forgotten was Gilmore's sensational break up of that pass near the end.

But I will say, Jacksonville did not play a lucky game, they are that close, at least to a slightly hurting Pat's team. They certainly could have won. Penalties also killed them, and yet even more pass interference penalties could have been called.

I also agree with tail...Jags imploded at the end of the half, when they could have really stepped on the Pats' necks...

DELAY OF GAME? nobody looking at the clock?.... then they kept backing up....smh...

But Amendola ...omg...better than Edelman last year...

I hated it, but the salary cap and "franchising" rules, and Brady maybe playing at least 2 more years...would have had to pay JimmyGQ like 23 M to be a back up...and he doesn't want to wait until he's 28 to start.

Lots of other factors, lots of rumors, lots we'll never know...but I think your 9'ers got a real fine QB.
