The closest thing to a consensus is that nobody has a clue what happened....or why, anyway. THAT concerns me a LOT more than the dip. No news - no indicators - no nothing. Makes you wonder what role program trading had, if it can be 'calculated'. The universe of program trading concerns me greatly, but for reasons more emotional than rational. I am uneasy with the idea that we've surrendered control of the markets -- which might be fine if we were talking about a few fat cats and their play money. But IRA's and pension funds affecting an awful lot of hard working Americans are reliant on an integrated AI system that nobody fully understands. I felt for a long time that a correction was necessary....I just wish that some expert somewhere....ANY expert could explain the last couple days
